~Lyrics~
Early one morning, just as the sun was rising
I heard a maiden call from the valley below.
Oh don't deceive me, Oh never leave me,
How could you use a poor maiden so?
Remember the vows that you made to your Mary
Remember the bower where you vowed you'd be true.
Oh don't deceive me, Oh never leave me,
How could you use a poor maiden so?
[instrumental]
Cos green is the garden and fresh are the roses,
Fresh from the garden to wind on your brow.
Oh don't deceive me, Oh never leave me,
How could you use a poor maiden so?
[instrumental]

I love the fact that everyone's here because of the Chaos Walking series!!! Totally smashing my feels to bits!!! I have no words to express how beautiful it is to imagine Ben singing this to Todd

Uh huh! I love Chaos Walking and I can just picture Ben walking towards Todd in the books. Then Todd finds out he has noise which for some reason really bugs me.

I've never cried listening to a song but here I am imagining Todd and Ben's whole life and I'm sobbing violently.

The best part is that I already knew this song before Chaos Walking. My father sang it to me as a child just as Ben sang it to Todd, so this book holds a huge personal meaning to me. Favourite trilogy ever.

Chloe C I've got to say, although I don't know what anyone else is going to say, Ivan is the underrated character. Also, the Mayor says he changed, but I think it was still just a plan. Remember when Todd spoke to the Mayor for the first real time, at the beginning of The Ask and the Answer? He put bandages on Todd. He stays the same throughout the whole rest of the books. Also, isn't it a little odd that Todd only opened his noise when Ben came around? Not even for Viola. If Todd would kill thousands for Viola, I can't imagine what he would do for Ben, or Cillian.

I never watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I remember hearing Samantha sing it on the original "Bewitched" series as a child. I think her quite simplicity with the lute was more beautiful than this version. Although, I do like the drama that the synthsizers add Moray's interpretation. I think it might make an interesting piece to choreograph for an ice-skating performance.
