I don’t understand why Nintendo removed sequence breaking in this game, in the multiple iterations. What do they lose from it? People are still buying and playing the game…

From what I gather, it’s not that they explicitly "removed" it. More like, the game works in a different engine, and the glitches that allowed for the sequence breaks were not present in it. Keeping them would have required programming in the glitches on purpose, which I believe is understandable to not do. Other Metroid games did have intended sequence breaks, and had Prime had those then being upset at removing them would be entirely justified, but those that got lost were not intended in the first place and thus weren’t removed rather than just not included. I mean, I‘m sad they‘re gone, too. But as someone who does some coding myself I do understand that there‘s a big difference between restricting actions and putting in bugs. Though, well, the invisible wall to SJB was overkill imo. Make the bomb jump harder, but don’t try to gate it off.

I wish they had reverted to the sequence breaks from Ver. 0.00. Most anyone could perform those tricks without OoB. Made playing the game much more fun and avoided backtracking.

I gotta say i have new respect for runners of this game because I’ve tried and failed miserably at doing all of these sequence breaks. I still can’t get the bomb jump right for ESJ, early power bombs is nearly impossible, early Ice beam I struggle to even get out of bounds, it’s rough. I can get a lot of stuff if I use the scan dash mod though lol

Ya it's tough but doable if your willing to take the time to get it right. No lie all the glitches on on GameCube version are alot easier and fun imo but ima try to master the Remaster version since I love the graphics to it.

Yeah dude, I spent a solid hour and change trying for boots and couldn't get a single out of bounds clip for power bombs. It's wild stuff.

Of course I see this now after I met all the requirements and failed my 1st attempt. I shut the game off after since I was playing for a while anyway. I didn't know that was what I was working towards. Definitely gonna make it through it next time I play.

I love doing this trick, but don’t do it on any other version except for original GameCube, cause they block you at the top and force you get power bombs first.

These sequences breaks are still easier than the ones in dread. I did ESJ and IBBF in a couple of hours of practice and still can’t do half the jumps in dread after days and days of practice

@@Sylux-nq9xl For early Space Jump boots? I am having problems with it as well. I am able to scan dash successfully but I always hit the ledge. I suspect that this is happening because you need to be standing in a rather specific spot in order to end up on top of the cliff instead of hitting the cliff face. It's actually funny because I can Ghetto Jump and get OOB for the early Ice beam after I get the space jump boots normally and a lot of speedrunners say that first Ghetto jump you have to do is kinda hard, whereas first item Space Jump is considered rather easy. I want to learn R jumping eventuially as well but it is supposed to be rather difficult.

Hey I don't know if you'll see this comment anytime soon, but regarding the bsj, is the glitchy part that allows you to jump the static part alone or the combination of unmorphing plus getting the static screen at the same time? Because if it's just the first, would it technically be possible to get a delayed instant unmorph? I'm not sure how to describe it, but sometimes in certain areas, the screen will do the static bit that happens with the instant unmorph a bit after starting to unmorph, cutting out the rest of the camera shift. Is it possible to do a jump then, cause if so, I might have an easier jump set up for plasma. But that all hinges on how bsj really works. Sorry if this is unclear.

Basically BSJ works because you can jump after unmorphing and the camera snaps immediately from the 3rd person into the 1st person. For Early Plasma Beam you need to hold boost button to keep camera in place so the BSJ would even work, it doesn't otherwise. (That's how I understood this part of the trick) I'm not sure did I understood your comment correctly, but hope that helps.

@@Samura1man Hm so then the only way my set up would even have a chance of working is if two spring bomb jumps sent you high enough to put you exactly at the height needed for a proper instant unmorph. You did understand my comment, and I'm happy to have gotten a reply! As for my supposed set up, I found the camera thing happening from a double bomb jump on the rock platform next to the spore enemy. But it doesn't happen at the exact moment of unmorphing, only after part of the unmorph happens. I could probably try more this time around to see if it'd ever work with double spring bomb jumps, which I feel could make for a faster plasma beam... if I was patient enough. edit: if I get footage of what I mean, would you be open to me sharing it with you?

I've got early Space Jump, IBBF and early Power Bombs but I cannot seem to be able to jump out of the instant unmorph. Any tips or reasons why I can get the instant unmorph but cannot input a jump at all?

You did follow tutorial? I explain why you need to use boost ball before unmorphing. For the jump itself, try to press jump a little after unmorph, also the timing to unmorph might have been late for you.

Is the boost ball release timing important to get the instant unmorph or is it the angle of the camera that allows for instant unmorph? 4. Is the control stick movement a part of the instant unmorph or is that just to get to get enough distance to land on the platform? Sorry for the barrage of questions. I managed to get the trick to work for a little bit and even got close to the platform with a double bomb jump but for some reason I have completely lost the timing and now struggle to even get instant unmorph to work. I think there is something I am missing with the timing even though it looks like the sequence is simple - Get in position - Charge boost ball - lay bomb / spring ball - Release boost ball - Press Unmorph immediately after boost ball - Press and hold jump immediately after unmorph - Jump again for double jump Is there something I'm missing or is it just my timing preventing me from pulling the trick off properly (and yes I have slowed down your footage as much as possible and I still can't find out what I am doing wrong)

1. You don't need Spring Ball 2. Release it before unmorphing, doesn't matter when, but it must be midair 3. Camera angle is more important, it needs to be like I explained in the video, so you have better chance to get it to work 4. Hold upright while you unmorph

Yes, I use gyro for Spring ball, because only Dual Stick control scheme has mapped a button press for Spring ball.

The door has never been locked. But it got blocked by rocks in Player's Choice, PAL and later versions.

Seriously, they didn't lock this up like they did before on countless version of the GC and trilogy... or did they leave this open only on the EU version of the game? Nothing pissed me off more than when they prevented sequence breaking by putting artificial locks on things or invisible walls because you hadn't gotten far enough in the game. Imagine the irritating it was to work all the way to the top of this place and find the door is locked. Also you could get the plasma beam before getting the boost ball among numerous other things. Now that i've seen the end, the original game if i recall wasn't a ice beam coded door, it was a standard blue door, so they did put a bit of a limit.
