@@bhjihari6685 Eh, I don't know if I'd go as far as to say he wasn't a legit good hitter, he's just nowhere near a good enough hitter to justify playing the field, he's kind of a DH who's only slightly above average hitter. He's a career 107 OPS+ so its not like Coors made him.

@@bhjihari6685His 1999 is absolutely fascinating, had an OPS of almost .900 but it's in pre humidor Coors so his OPS+ was 102. Combine that with -34 DRS in right field and you get a guy who had -2.6 rWAR despite 78 extra bass hits in that season.

Bailey I must know, has a player ever reached base via a hit, walk, HBP, and dropped 3rd strike all in one game? I call it the on base cycle
@markmiller3059 Жыл бұрын
that's super interesting so I did take a look at it - the most recent player to have done it seems to be Alex Gordon on Kansas City on April 28, 2019. And the player before him was Jason Giambi for the Yankees on May 16th, 2003. So pretty rare.
@markmiller3059 Жыл бұрын
But there are also other ways to reach base, like catcher's interference, so I wonder if we just say "get on base four different ways" and see how recently it happens

Hot take: The Tigers win the AL Central. As for why it’s possible: - The bullpen is surprisingly electric - E Rod is pitching like 2011 JV and Skubal is coming back soon - Javy is finally hitting great and the Tigers are scoring a lot of runs of late. -Tigers faced a ton of the AL East already (the best division, Tigers are 2-14 against them, 11-3 against the other 5 divisions.) Is this likely? No. But it’s possible in a horrible AL Central.

E Rod is going to regress in Comerica, he's not gonna have a 2 ERA the whole year. His FIP is almost almost 4. I'm not sold on Javy being good again after how bad he was last year and how bad he was through the first three weeks of this season. If they're 2-14 against those teams, they can't beat .500 teams. To win the division, you probably need to win about 45-50% or maybe even more of the time against teams over .500

Been an M's fan my whole life. The fan base can get pretty toxic when the expectations aren't met, which is strange considering they just broke a 21 year playoff drought last season. The M's didn't add an extra bat in the offseason, just lost Robbie Ray to season ending Tommy John surgery and the platoon DH position is batting a collective sub .200 BA. Every major media outlet slated this team for a slight regression but fans didn't want to listen.
@brianaiitken Жыл бұрын
Pretty much everyone is mad at Dipoto and the front office for doing jack shit after breaking the 21 year drought. Caballero’s success helps with the pain of watching Kolten Wong this season, and La Stella getting DFA’d will go down as the greatest moment in franchise history. Having Kelenic finally reach his potential helps keep the vibes high as well.
