What is cwd? Shooting over corn piles under cover of darkness. Not sure what you’re eluding to or about Jeff .
@whitetailhabitatsolutions975110 ай бұрын
Hi Dave! Chronic Wasting Disease. They have deer eradication zones where after the season, they create large corn piles here in SE MN on private land. They then wait a couple of weeks, go in aft r dark and shoot the deer that come to the piles. All that they can. They attract deer from Mike's in a harsh winter. The surviving deer then go back to where they came and because they were exposed to so many deer at the pikes, the potential they were exposed to CWD is high. They do this to lower the population and also test for CWD. It can ruin adjacent lands for deer hunting for years to come. A practice not very high on the common sense scale. Also very expensive for the state with very little accomplished. The state of WI spent over 20 million doing the same 18-20 years ago and realized it was futile, so they stopped. It's a shame these states don't learn from each other. The only folks that win are the sharpshooter contractors.
@davemitchell727010 ай бұрын
Holy Mackerel! Now it clicks your anachronism for chronic wasting disease, so far that hasn’t spread prolifically here in southern Ontario to my knowledge. Was this awful scenario brought together by a shadow council advisory committee made up of bottom of their class biologists? Thanks Jeff .

Did you ever figure out what really happend to all the deer that MN DNR poaches all winter? Do they just end up in a landfill after they take their sample for testing?
@whitetailhabitatsolutions975110 ай бұрын
I believe they take samples for testing...but don't know anything certain. I do know last year from local law enforcement that 2 dump trucks full of deer left to go somewhere...but no one knows where that I personally know. Maybe with mouth calls and investigation a person could get some clarification...I wish I had the time to do that!

Is the cost of alfalfa worth it, I have 103 acres with an old power line
@whitetailhabitatsolutions975110 ай бұрын
Absolutely not...not a great fall or winter food source at all. Look at it this way ..I own a food plot seed company and I wouldn't nev r sell it alone for deer. Decent In dry regions with irrigation out West... Montana, for example

Jeff is there any information on where they bait in SE MN for these deer eradication shoots over corn piles you talk about? Such a waste of DNR $ and the deer resource.
@whitetailhabitatsolutions975110 ай бұрын
Hi Alex! I haven't seen any. Last year I know they were out of Rushford at some point. Local law enforcement may know? I've heard of individual properties but only thru local, well connected folks. Like a vampire, they have to be given permission to enter your land (home). Hopefully someone will let us know if there are any schedules and location maps for any shootings taking place in 2024. Hopefully they run out of money...
@Alexschmalenberg10 ай бұрын
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751I hope they run out of funds too… surprised I haven’t seen any info on this besides from your channel. Doesn’t surprise me the DNR would be quiet about it though.
