This is one of my favorite bourbons. I use it and Buffalo Trace as a primer bourbon. $24 for a 1 Liter bottle. I have 6 bottles of the Early Times BIB with the black cap (Brown Forman) and 2 bottles with the blue cap (Sazarac). I found a store in KY that still has cases of the ET black cap for $29.99 per bottle. Every time I go to Ky for business, I pick up bottles of the black cap. 🥃

Can’t beat it for the price. We’ve never had the black cap but if it’s similar to the blue cap, it’s a winner! We were pleasantly surprised.

I'm currently obsessed with this bourbon , although I'm in Southwest Ohio and we get everything this is strangely hard to find , luckily I'm 30 minutes from Kentucky and it's everywhere there

Did you see Stuff & Whiskey did a blind with the Brown Forman and Sazerac versions. They just put it our today. Too bad this never comes up this way.

We saw it. Interesting that the Saz bottle always wins. Very important to do blinds for these. If we could find an older bottling we would do the same!

It's not bad for the price. I personally get a little astringency on the back end. I would personally pay $30 for Coopers Craft 100 over it. I know Benchmark Full Proof is higher proof point but at $25 it blows away Early Times in my opinion. Keep up the good content.

We really need to try the Coopers Craft 100. We hear about it all the time. One we find a bottle we’ll definitely do a comparison. Same goes for Benchmark FP 🥃

Thanks for the review! I’ve only ever had the Brown Forman version and I really liked it. I always got PB&J on it as the prominent note, so I’m glad to hear you were getting that on the Sazerac!

FYI, the woodman's in Janesville had a 1.75L buffalo trace from the Madison store that wasn't selling there so I bought that about 2 months ago

Can some one give me a note on the finish other than licking a fresh tire? I REALLY like this bottle but the ending notes as I swallow taste like rubber. I need a different note to switch my brain 😂

@@Mike2trys For us, it typically leans towards darker, semi-sweet flavors. We get a lot of dark chocolate, or cocoa. There is definitly a desserty baked goods presence too. I can't say we've experienced tire haha. Wondering if you got a bad bottle - if the store had it in direct sunlight for extended periods of time this could taint the bottle! We've had about 2-3 tainted bottles over the years and it adds a funky synthetic flavor. Wondering if that is what is causing it...

@@3Bourboneers update! bought another bottle and wildly different lol. i get just a hint of that taste on the finish but its barely there so i guess the first bottle was just a bad batch or tainted bottle maybe.

I personally think those who are dogging this new early times are just over reacting to the sale to Sazerac. Could it be just a off batch yes but from your experience I’d say it is still really good.
