Erkenci Kus (English title: Early Bird) is a Turkish-made romantic comedy series by Gold Film.
Sanem (Demet Özdemir) is a girl who works in her father's grocery store and is loved by everyone. But her family tells her that she will marry if she can't find a job. Sanem starts working in an advertising agency to avoid getting married. But she doesn't know what awaits her in her new job. The manager of his company is the handsome, intelligent and cultured Can (Can Yaman). Since Sanem always manages to get into trouble, this situation attracts Can's attention and a great love story begins.

I heard 2 different reasons for this but have no idea if either are true. 1st - Personal relationship between Can & Demet deteriorated, affecting the show 2nd - censors canceled show & gave them only 5 weeks to finish up. I tend to believe the 1st. Can't imagine what censors could have found fault with in this series.

There is more they would have given the audience in this series, we watched too many relationships struggles between the main protagonists. They should have a couple of episodes showing us their good life together married with their and traveling the world and just enjoying family life together, we deserved that!

What was with Mevkibe ordering sanem back home when she saw she was at the party with her friends ?!? WTF! She wouldn’t have stayed unless she wanted to! Mevkibe is so rude to Can too saying about the order. What bloody difference does it make she got there and she stayed from her own free will! When Mevkibe was fiddling with Emres suit and Leyla was saying about the party it pissed me off. It’s like she thinks of Sanem as a thing to own and control not her grown up woman daughter! Sanem came for support and familiarity and spend time with family not to be treated like a kindergartener! Mevkibe was so very out of line her , bloody ridiculous!

Would, I have watched this over and over again since it first was available on KZbin. Each time I am more amazed at the talent of the cast if characters, I think that Demet has never done anything as wonderful as her playing Sanem, she is just fantastic in this part and is it just me or did she become prettier as the series went on. Watching just once doesn't cut it, you need two or three times to really see just how great this production really is.😊

@@bubbalucia6448 - "We are back baby", quote...un-quote JJ. I had to brake a deep breath, just the mental picture of her reaction to seeing Can in the movie theater makes me feel her terror. I say terror because she must be fearful that if they meet it could send her over the edge again. How Can Yaman was able to portray this character as totally blank where she was concerned blew me away. For me the best part of them getting reacquainted is theb trip on the boat. Eventually they both let their guards down and the realization that they both still love each other is subtly revealed. I truly think that they both gave their best performances in the series in th I s end of it. She has grown and matured as a woman and Can comes back a much humble, more gentler soul. Love these two characters who show us that true love does exist.

Merhiban is so much more of a mother to:Can than Huma ever was! She was the mother like he thought of Mevkibe and wished he’d had growing up! Can struggled without a mother growing up he’s said that before and that’s why I think his behaviour was like it was before he left for the year, Can needed the balance! Emre was the complete opposite and he needed a father in his life as Huma controlled him so much he became like he did and was with Aylin as well as his jealously of Can when he came back and ran the business! Some like to criticize Sanem for not giving into Can. But while this is a sad situation for both, neither are at fault. But imagine the pain of the man you love losing every memory of you while you are unable to forget a single moment because of your photographic memory. They’ve both been through a lot, yes, but only she remembers any of it.

It is called patience. Can’s situation is not by choice, he had an accident. Sanem is trying to compare her inability to forget him when she was depressed and insane to Can’s involuntary memory loss. But amnesia due to physical and neurological trauma is different from psychological trauma. And I agree, it is a difficult situation for both parties, however, Sanem should have been patient if for nothing but for the love they use to share. She should have accepted the Can that was obviously beginning to fall in love with her all over again but once again, she gave up and left. But even with his memory loss, he couldn’t let her go. This has been their story from the beginning.

Yes and in the last part of their encounter in the boat, she apologized for trying to force Can to be something that she wanted him to be. Yet when he lost his memory, she wanted him to hurry up and remember her and be the old Can. But he couldn't do that, not because he didn't want to, but because he was experiencing a traumatic brain injury. For her to not have the patience and empathy, when her character earlier said that it was wrong for her to want to change Can, is illogical in the character development for Sanem, as created by the authors. Sure from a story perspective it sucks for both characters. But for Sanem to give up because the love of her life cannot figure out things due to a traumatic brain injury, that happened because they were going to see her overbearing, meddlesome parents, to leave on a peaceful note, and he was assuring her of his love, is really really cruel.

How would she have felt if she lost her memory and the love of her life gave up on her, because she couldn't remember things, not because she didn't want to, but because her brain stopped working the same way. She made it look like Can was doing all of this on purpose and as if he was being toxic to her. It makes me really mad how poorly the writers think of writing complex women characters.

I have to be honest Mevkibe gets on my bloody nerves at times! She wants to know every detail in her girls lives even though they are grown ass women and Sanem being back for a break doesn’t mean she’s gone backwards in age yet Mevkibe is treating her like a child. Same m just wants to be around people she loves with no pressure, then to be so rude to Can knowing how hard he’s trying but acting like she knows whats happening with them and saying she doesn’t want to go whereas most parents would be encouraging their girl to go after all her work and because it’s for her and her product, it does seem odd for her not to be there. Baby8ng Sanem is not helping her at all, she needs grown up conversations like she used to have with Merhiban and good solid advice that makes sense not just being nosey and pandering to needs just to interfere and show her power to others which is what she did to Can by answering for Sanem!

What is it with these women throwing themselves at Can and yet he gives them not one iota of encouragement?? They make such fools of themselves! first Polen turning up after he’d broken up with her, then hanging around like a bad smell, then Ceyda who was unashamedly throwing herself at Can and he was oblivious that she was even there, then Ayesha who is putting the moves on Can and yet again he doesn’t even see her!! These women are like stalkers and anyone can see he’s just not interested have some pride women!!!

I have loved Can and Demet's chemistry and their great love story. So this is not to take away from any of the cast and their brilliant acting. This comment is entirely for the writers: 1. Please don't make women behave hysterically, irrationally, illogically, as if they are either bratty, angry, jealous, or lovesick. Please move away from such stereotypical ways of portraying women. Many times along this series it was difficult to understand Sanem's choices or even like her. If Sanem truly came to a place of realization that she didn't want to change Can to suit her, she would have been more patient to wait for Can's memory to return instead of being bratty. It doesn't make sense in the storyworld that you created for Sanem. 2. Please don't have such detailed villainous episodes with characters like Mrs. Huma and Yighit, and then not hold them accountable. There is no point in keeping the viewers engaged in the storylines of their ill deeds if nothing were to happen to them in terms of consequences. 3. Sanem lying in the earlier part went on for far too long. There could have been many ways you could have created conflict and tension. 4. Please consider the message you're sending by normalizing toxic overbearing, meddlesome parenting for grown adult humans and equating it with parental love. You're sending the message that manipulative parents are actually doing this out of love. Even in this episode, they cannot let Sanem be at a party for her own brand. They need to pull her back home. So harmful and toxic. Overall, I loved the metaphor work in the series and it has inspired me to write my own romantic comedy. So for that I thank you. I now know the kind of story I want to write.

I agree a 100% with every point you make. This series was exhausting to watch because of some of the storylines. The incessant pointless drama was hard to watch. I had to fast forward most of the episodes. The only reason I kept watching was because of Can Yaman and Demet. Amazing chemistry they have.

I would also like to see the women wear business appropriate clothes. Overbearing parents allow their innocent daughters to wear such short skirts, dresses, shorts and tops revealing midriffs and shoulders??? Actually all women who have lines in Turkish dramas have same clothing policy. I love the cloths but not when in the office where men cover up.

You forget that culture influences a big part of our behaviour. There are cultures were parents are considered overbearing by Western standards, but not by their standards. As per the women, not wanting to generalize, but the Turkish women I met in real life were hysterical, jealous and irrational. Women like Sanem (and worse) exist in many cultures though. It is not a stereotypical way of portraying women. It is a real way of portraying women that do exist.

The same holds true for the comment above about clothing styles - Turkish fashion is very different from the fashion of the country I am from but that doesn't make it unprofessional or inappropriate where the show takes place!
