@@evanouk1174 then nobody would be watching. A real camry, fusion and camaro would be boring as hell. Especially since the camaro is more aerodynamic ( but designed for drag racing). I already argued with a guy yesterday complaining about the safety features, like he wants to see another driver join Dale. I love the look of these cars, only wish they had less restriction than f1 on development. Only way to make nascar successful by car body alone is a sports car/super car. Would you rather see a c8, GT, and supra? thats more le mans ( except the GR hyper car would be toyota). Do that and say goodbye to drafting, close racing and ratings. Just my 2 cents, i want this sport to continue, just tired of everyone complaining about everything. If nascar leaves, then its just f1 and boring ole local short tracks (I like 1 1/2 miles).

So true...the "old" Fairgrounds Raceway used to be considered as an "eyesore" on the nascar circuit, but the racing was so much BETTER back then. The new track always gets praise for its configuration, but usually produces nothing but "yawn-fests" on race day. Guess I just miss the older days ...

Dear NASCAR. Why have you not yet created some sort of online library of past races? The amount of footage you guys must have must be extensive. And the lack of footage from ARCA and the BUSCH series among others online is a sad thing. I'm pretty sure you would have a lot of people interested in it, but it's probably to do with rights to the footage etc? We can all dream, maybe one day.

I started watching NASCAR as a kid in the '60s on Wide World of Sports and followed it all the way up until the mid '90s when I thought it had changed too much, many of the old familiar names were gone, and I lost interest in it. I remember these '80s races, names, and cars very well and watched them live whenever I could. This video reminded me that back then my wife liked Earnhardt's #3 Wrangler car because she thought the colors were "pretty". 😄

Not sure if there's a specific instance that you're speaking of, but, the commentators were all very into the race, and, enjoying, much as any ordinary fan in the stands...only, what they were saying, was being broadcast. Personally, I consider Benny's impromptu Danny Joe Brown impression, when exclaiming, "And...Joe Ruttman spins around!!!", to be one of my favorite NASCAR TV moments ever. It makes me laugh, no matter how many times I watch it, and, reminds me that there used to be a time when some leeway was given to the guys in the booth, allowing them to let us know that they loved watching, as much as we did.

Earnhardt did say he misjudged Waltrips bumper later on. Darrel was super mad I don't blame him but in all honesty he shouldn't have passed the 3 on the strait, he should have slowed up and held the 3 on the outside of 3 and 4 insuring the victory. Man, I HATE that they reconfigured this track. Could you imagine the modern cars racing here? Sigh.

The front straightaway at Richmond back then is now pit road. Does bruton smith own this track because his tracks have ALOT to do with nascars downfall. Never was a Big E fan until after he passed and yes he was the dirtiest driver to ever get behind the wheel of a nascar cup car. He’s lucky he didn’t kill anybody with his win at all cost mentality. That being said I am a DIEHARD Little E aka Dale jr fan.
