Earning a Black Belt in Tang Soo Do

I'm preparing for my 1st Dan test after 9 years of training.

this is exactly the problem. 3 yrs isn't proof your any good at anything. It only means you spent 3 yrs giving your money and time. If you can proficently perform the rquirements, then you should be allowed to the next level.

Our organization does 4 years for black belt, then number of years equal to the next Dan rank. 2 years for 2nd Dan, 3 years for 3rd, 4 years for 4th, 5 years for 5th, 6 for 6th, etc.

This is a Korean art not Chinese. You would just call them instructors. :)

There's too much pressure for students too claim their a black belt and they pay online or at class and receive black belts love martial arts but it's too easy to claim black belts

I've never heard of anyone earning a Black Belt in ONE year. That's just ridiculous. To me, five to seven years seems normal. Even three seems short! However I'm sure your students are ready. One year........awful.

I don't understand why we practice stances and forms and then fight like a western kick boxer. It's like practicing in one style and fighting in another style.

A waste of time. This system is worthless in getting someone ready to fight to defend himself. Alot of noise for no reason. These people will even lose in every tournament fight against e.g. karate, or TKD or kiokusin or muai thai jiu jitsu, boxing. Take my word for it, save your time and money.
