This is the results of my initial plans for this EART tele. I may think of pickup changes later but for now I want to know it as it is. It is the first Guitar that I've gotten in the past 4 years that was the least amount of work to make it great and my preference. I hope this serves as an offering to those that have some knowledge of guitar work and to those that think it is all beyond them to see it is NOT. I learned this from other you tubers and doing it myself. Take a chance. a mistake is just an issue you haven't corrected yet. there is usually a way to fix everything.

Hey Mike, Watched your 2 part Eart video. Great job man. You know your stuff and I love how meticulous you are. Keep up the good work and thanks for the shout out! J-Man

Thanks much. You're welcome for shoutout, as you saved me a booboo because I would have ordered the standard 54 mm bridge without checking

@@2bikemikesguitartopics145 I just lucked out. Maybe it's not the case, but I always thought for some reason that over seas stuff especially T-styles had narrower string spacing as a standard... worked out well this time lol

Great mod work. Interesting addition with the extra magnet - I do hear a warmer tone at the bridge now. Love that pearl guard. I tried a 4-way switch on my MIM Tele and I decided it was not enough tonal enhancement for me to keep getting confused by the switch positions (muscle memory kept interfering), so I went back to the 3-way. Matter of preference for sure. That's a gorgeous axe, Mike. I'm totally envious. Nice work.

Nice mods, Mike! I have a Tele copy that I did similar changes to...same pearl pickgaurd and 6 saddle bridge. I'm not crazy about the 3 saddle ones. I haven't done a 4 way switch, yet. Maybe in the future. You've turned that into an awesome guitar. Thanks for the video!👍😎🎸🎶

I had to have a giggle in the previous video when you said that you were a money saver (Im being polite) I have a massive roll of white cotton wrapped wire that I use and I used to put a little shrink tube on it at each end to designate the colour but have recently saved some money by using permanent markers to add some colour to the white wiring, I try to get the best value from money and this is something that has been learned over a lifetime, I have been called a miser (in Jest) but now the cost of living crisis is on top of us all guess who's not struggling?

Mike, that guitar looks and sounds great. Nice job. It's funny how when I watch you take it apart, it looks just like how I do it. The pearloid pickguard does tie in the two colors (roasted maple / Dark blue) so much better than the "green" one. Because I plan to use an F hole pickguard on mine, I'll have to fill in and touch-up the fwd screw on the lower horn. I just wanted something different I guess. Have you seen the "Merle Haggard" style pickguards that are close to these? Thanks mister!

The EART guard seems very much like the Merle guard. Are you doing any video of the work on yours?

Strange choices by the manufacturer on 500K pots. When you said you had a .022 cap, I figured you had 250Ks with a .022 and that’s why it was so bright. But a 500K pot is why they put in a .022. Just weird choice for a single coil tele.
@2bikemikesguitartopics145
@2bikemikesguitartopics145 3 жыл бұрын
Ya I was surprised 😯, but there's no rule about pot values. Depending on the pickup output characteristics, you can choose different pot/cap values to balance the sound your ears prefer. I doubled the ceramic 🧲 on the bridge to increase the field so the coil can increase electrical field output. To my ears in the room it got warmer a tadd. The other way to do that is increasing the windings, so not as easy as magfield. It all works well as it is for now. The neck pup is to low end frequency tuned for me.

Caught up on this series today. (It's not on your Play List like the other series are). The pearloid guard really looks good. Did the resistance change in the bridge pup with the added ceramic magnet?
@2bikemikesguitartopics145
@2bikemikesguitartopics145 Жыл бұрын
Okay I created a playlist. I guess I forgot on this one. The addition of the magnet does not change the resistance but it can increase the output voltage the coil can make going to the guitar

Hey Mike :) very helpful video! I just got the same guitar a couple of days ago :) would you mind sharing where youve got the 52mm bridge? or can i just buy the compensated saddles and replace the original one?
@2bikemikesguitartopics145
@2bikemikesguitartopics145 10 ай бұрын
I got the bridge on amazon, but the easiest and best solution are the goto compensated saddles. I got the set off aliexpress cuz I had time to wait for the longer delivery. Only $10 CDN there. you can get them on amazon also but the actual goto are more expensive. I don't know your location so I'm giving links for Ali, and both canada and usa options. this is easy peasy. Mine from Ali worked perfectly. the Wilkinson's I had were not perfect and allowed the strings to move up the saddle on bends. goto is the better mouse-trap. www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004707387708.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.159.21ef1802ePw990 www.amazon.ca/Gotoh-Telecaster-Tune-Brass-Saddles/dp/B019JCB0X0/ref=sr_1_136?crid=3PZ9054KI10LN&keywords=gotoh+bridge+saddles&qid=1698771599&refinements=p_85%3A5690392011&rnid=5690384011&rps=1&sprefix=goto+bridge+saddle%2Caps%2C106&sr=8-136 www.amazon.com/Gotoh-Tune-Compensated-Saddles-Brass/dp/B0789YKSJ4/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2E7OQCLRPDLXA&keywords=Gotoh+Telecaster+In-Tune+Brass+Saddles+Tele&qid=1698771646&sprefix=gotoh+telecaster+in-tune+brass+saddles+tele%2Caps%2C141&sr=8-1

At about 6:20 you mention that "the feel of the file on the fret is just like the nickel copper" and go on to say "no different". So do you still feel that the frets really are stainless steel?
@2bikemikesguitartopics145
@2bikemikesguitartopics145 2 жыл бұрын
They are stainless. What I meant was is that you can file them to level just like the nickel copper even though it takes a little bit more work due to the hardness. Thanks for checking in with me. I appreciate your support

Ya I think a mini bucker would fit factory routing. It's been a while since I had that open so I'm not sure a standard full size bucket would would work it might. Thanks for commenting in with me I appreciate it.
