That is what people tend to do when they get a modded guitar, mod it again. You mod to a personal preference, while an original stays original. I had the same artec, but on a stratocaster. Great hot pickup for some good rock tones. For all JT fans, I do have 2 other guitars for sale, since I am saving money for a Les Paul standard/classic.

Artec bridge rails rock! There was a bit of dramatic jeopardy, wondering how you might find the right screw that would fit Edwin's Corsair replacement bridge but in the end we have a more satisfying conclusion.

Wow that pickup with the Amp 1 gives some absolutely killer tones. I’m thinking of modding the pickups in a 90s American made Peavey strat. Was thinking of Irongear pickups but might reconsider after this.

You're right! That pickup does sound rather spiffing for the price! Maintains the Tele character like you say, with a bit more bite 👍

What a great axe, John. Reminds me of my no. 1 gigging guitar which is a USA Performer (budget) tele with a hotrails dimarzio shoved into the bridge. I now have a great rhythm sound (neck) and a ballsy lead sound. “The full Kotzen”. ❤

Very interesting video John! Wow that affordable Artec pickup sounds amazing ,it just goes to show you don't need to spend hundreds on pickups like many music shops insist you do! Excellent playing as per usual! Love that guitar!

I just replaced the stock pickups on my Donner DCT-100 with a set of Artec big pole piece AlNiCo V single coils and the sound is wonderful.

Interesting video, I modded my Fazley Tele with the same compensated brass saddles and now the intonation is bang on. I would be interested to know in videos like this and other review videos how the intonation is at the first fret? In my experience it usually needs attention. Nobody seems to check this crucially important factor when reviewing guitars.

Both of my t style guitars have artec rail humbuckers in the bridge and I'm very happy with them

The problem you describe with intonation on the mod bridge doesn’t surprise me. The REAL root of the problem is that for some reason, the bridge on the EART is mounted a bit lower than standard for a Telecaster, meaning that the saddles have to be adjusted further forward than they should be for a standard 25.5” scale length. The barrel-style bridge is shorter than the 6 saddle version, and the saddles on it have more travel, since bottom of the saddles won’t crunch the string if they go too high. HOWEVER, don’t forget that putting the saddles further forward also lessens the break angles of the strings over them.

I have the same trouble with a strat. I can't get the top E saddle forward enough. The trem screw blocks it!

did you stick with the same 250k pot or switch to a 500k

Those Artec hot rails work fine with a 250K pot, so I just left it as is 👍
