Thanks so much for all the hard work you've put into this. I've been an avid fan of Brian & Gary since Humanoid came out & have spent all those following years collecting there music, I've also spent all those following years trying to get my head around that massive discography & have been confused by it all so many times. Now thanks to you, both on here & the very impressive fractional difference project , it all now making so much more sense. Thanks once again & keep up the good work.

crazy that the yunie release fell into obscurity - ‘i can see for miles’ is one of my favorite tracks of theirs from this time period - gives early massive attack vibes.

Yeah, it's a lovely one - I suppose it's just so different to everything else they did that it got ignored.

I compared the various versions of Q that I have. I had not realized that the Earthbeat version was sped up a bit from the original. I don't mind the faster tempo, but I don't like the bassline at a higher pitch as much. The versions of Q from Chile and 2020 are edits of the Original Mix, as you mentioned. Really though, they are the same recording, just faded out at earlier points in the track. I'm curious to know more about the 2011 remixes, but I imagine you plan to cover that in a future video

I was just at the end of my Ibiza trance phase at the point I first heard the track so the faster Earthbeat version sounded 'right' to me, in hindsight, the chunkiness of the original is much better, though; part of that is definitely in the bassline. I'll be getting to the 2011 remixes at some point (only release from 2011, I believe), although I won't have much positive to say about them, haha.

They used to give you money to “set up your own studio”?! Must have been nice..

Princes Trust is still going - you could probably still try it. It's for people who are in difficult personal/financial situations to set up a business. With his history they probably realised Brian could have made a go of it.

My two favorite things in the world are ambient house and Virgin era DW books. Are you Jim Mortimore or am I living in a simulation?

Hah, what are the chances? Glad there's at least one person out there appreciating the stands of this channel. I am, for the record, very much not Jim Mortimore. As will become very clear as the series goes on. Which reminds me, I really need to finish Exodus...

I always thought 'Chile of the Bass Generation' was a strange name, as I assumed that it was 'Chile' as in the country, or a typo of 'child' 🤷‍♂️

I believe it's a Hendrix reference - Electric Lady Land contains both 'Voodoo Child' and 'Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)'.

Loving the series. I've been FSOL collector right from Humanoid and still have all the early 12s and albums on vinyl. I'm looking forward to a lot of different track breakdowns. Especially tracks like the Owl that were huge at the raves we attended. Regarding Esus Flow Remix, throughout a lot of the track they are playing a very long Gong (the group) sample. I think it's from the album Camembert Electric, or one from that period. I guess it's a bit of an injoke mixing actual gong sounds with the music group gong.

'Psychological Overture' and 'New Age Transformation Try: No More Sages' from the Planet Gong album Live Floating Anarchy 1977. Somehow I'd never clicked the gong/Gong crossover though. That's more amusing than it should be haha. And cheers, glad you're enjoying! Plenty more to come.

Cheers! It's a remix of Papua New Guinea I've done that's in an unfinished state... might get it done one day.
