The answer is to be found in foundational laws and principles of light reflection and refraction, message brought to you by Plato, Aristotle and Archimedes
In my novice opinion we can compare the amount of light dispersion around a solar eclipse to determine whether the earth is flat or spherical, it appears to be a good amount of dispersed light around an eclipse, especially given the fact how far away we are from an eclipse when it occurs. Otherwise we would hardly see any dispersal of light around an eclipse being so far away. I don't know about you but I doubt the earth is that different from the other planets including the sun and moon...you can draw your own conclusions.
Furthermore there would be no dispersal of light following sunsets, and no dispersal of light before the sun rises. Why is there that much dispersal of light before and after sunsets and sunrises?
