A friend of mine likes going to "Flat Earther's" sites for a laugh, he told me they don't believe Australia exists, I said where was I then for ten years when I lived in Oz?? And I've also visited New Zealand and can assure flat earthers I've seen them both with my own eyes. I've also sailed across the Pacific, and it's odd I couldn't see the mountainous coast of North America until we were almost there. Not to mention it's funny seeing distant ships rising out of the ocean as we approached them. Then more proof of the globe, as a licensed radio ham, I've heard my return signal off the back of my antenna with a few seconds delay, something that would be impossible if the earth was flat.

I expected to fly over my house on the way according to the ball map but pilot said have to go N/E because curvature I thought ok then never felt any curve but felt everything else then had to switch planes at Frankfurt Germany, that doesn't make sense on a ball map either. About 7 years ago I stumbled on some Flat Earth videos, I was laughing, was entertaining then I realized Flat Earth map made perfect sense. If it didn't I wouldn't be on here saying this because I understand how it sounds but the proof I've experienced is undeniable.

I am a retired airline pilot with a 38-year career flying airplanes worldwide. The calculations we used to complete transcontinental or trans-oceanic flights were absolutely based on a global world using mostly Lambert Conformal Conic projection to convert the sphere into navigation charts. We used Great Circle Routes to shorten flight distances and times. Great circle routes do not exist on a flat earth. I have yet to see a flat earth map that would provide accurate distances, times, and headings for any long-distance flight. In fact, were I to plot such a course and use the headings provided by a flat earth map, God knows where I’d end up, and likely the distance and therefore the time would be wildly in error. Imagine an air transport industry using such folly.

we have zero problems with the southern hemisphere that's a myth , everything easily explained . You have circular wind patterns propelling the planes much faster than their top speed for long periods thus shortening the times considerably , they use the outer circle going one way and choose an inner circle going the other way . And that's basically it all explained , there aren't a great deal of routes in the southern hemisphere most air travel is done in the northern hemisphere and that is basically matching the flat earth map

I’ve flown from the U.S. to Australia, and from Australia to South Africa. Both flights were close to the same length - within an hour or two. I made this comment on a flerfer forum once, and I was told all sorts of crazy things: 1) I’m a liar. There are no flights from one part of the Southern Hemisphere to another. 2) The plane - a 747 in both cases - flew much faster from Australia to South Africa. MUCH faster. 3) Everyone on the plane from Australia to S.A. was put to sleep with some sort of sleeping gas, so the flight only seemed shorter because everyone slept through half of it…plus we slept through a refueling stop somewhere in between in a 747 wouldn’t have the range to fly that distance on the FE map. 4) Australia and South Africa were actually places in the Northern Hemisphere and we were all fooled into thinking we’d flown to the Southern Hemisphere. These were all ridiculous, of course. 1) I have actually made those flights, although they were several decades ago. 2) If 747s could fly twice as fast as they do from L.A. to Sydney, why wouldn’t they go twice as fast on ALL over-water routes? Cutting a 14-hour trip to seven hours would be wonderful! 3) Funny, but my watch - and all the clocks in both countries - said I was on the plane for about 15 hours. Do they reset the clocks for everyone at your destination just to fool the passengers from one flight? Plus, if we could be safely gassed and put to sleep with zero ill effects on planes, why not do it for all long flights? I’d happily consent to it if it meant I wouldn’t have to sit in that uncomfortable seat for 14 hours, unable to sleep since I can’t ever fall asleep on planes. I’d consent to it on short flights, too! 4) As an astronomy buff, I spent quite a lot of time studying the night sky in the Southern Hemisphere. Orion was upside-down and there were many constellations not visible at all from the Northern Hemisphere. Everything rotates around the southern star, too. These claims that flerfers make are easily verified or debunked. Just get on a plane> I guess flerfers are all too poor to afford plane tickets.

Allow me to debunk the debunker. Dave addresses two main points - where the flat Earth map comes from and flights in the southern hemisphere. Is the flat Earth map simply looking at the globe from the top and flattening it out? Simply put, yes, it is. I can also turn the idea around and say that the globe map takes the flat Earth map and wraps it around a bowling ball. But, yes, the flat Earth map he shows in the video is pretty accurate to what flat earther's believe. He mentions LATAM airlines flies from Santiago to Sydney four times a week. There are no dates shown on their website for this alleged direct flight. If you do find a flight between these two locations with another airline, there are a few stops along the way. Here's an example from United Airlines: FIRST STOP: Sydney, NSW, AU (SYD) to San Francisco, CA, US (SFO) SECOND STOP: San Francisco, CA, US (SFO) to Houston, TX, US (IAH) DESTINATION: Houston, TX, US (IAH) to Santiago, CL (SCL) Now, if you look at the flat Earth map as shown in this video, this flight plan makes perfect sense, while on a spherical planet (as he shows with a globe) the stops would make absolutely no sense at all. "Professor" Dave is either stupid as mud OR is being paid to throw you off track. I suggest the latter. So, Professor Dave, go ahead and book a flight from Sydney to Santiago, but pack a lunch or two - LOL Motives for attacking flat earthers and pushing disinformation and/or trying to confuse you: 1. Follow the money. NASA, as an example of one space program, has a budget of approximately $65 million dollars per day for "space" exploration, receiving an increase in budget every year. 2. I do believe the earth is round based on the obvious facts and that space does exist, but I am also able to hear the theories of its creation since the story that God created our planet in 7 days is impossible, it took billions of years, so this way Christians must hear the THEORIES of how the universe was created. But still, scientists should also acknowledge the role of God in the universe creation. In a few words, I think that the space exploration is an interesting subject and many Christians shouldnt hate scientists, but that scientists dont hate Christians either.

I used this exact same argument a few years back in a discussion with a flerfer. He was very polite but very earnest in his belief in a flat earth. After my comments about math, geometry, tides, moon phases and sideral motion he remained unconvinced Then I hit him with the Qantas daily flight between SYD and SCL and provided a link to the schedule. I noted the travel time and cruising speed of a 747-400 and asked him to explain that using that flat earth model. After about 10 minutes, he responded with, "Um, Houston, we have a problem". Just made my fucking day. I think I saved his intellectual soul.

I live in Australia and I see the Southern Cross constellation go around in circles (viewed in stages). It never rises or sets, it just goes around in circles in the sky. By viewing the Southern Cross in 3 hour stages you don't need time lapse photography to know that the southern star trails exist. For flat earthers who accept the STTs: If I am seeing the SSTs at due south, in what direction would you see the same STTs from South America? Have a look on your flat earth model!
