Earth Focus Episode 58 - Asian Elephants in Peril

I was left speechless after watching this video!! As a huge animal lover especially towards elephants, I cannot describe how humanity has changed life on earth for the past 3 centuries. Humans have killed animals for pleasure and ensure their own survival. Elephants are crucial to the environment as they regulate plant growth and help increase vegetation growth thanks to their dung. An elephant won't attack unless its a mother/herd with babies or a bull in musth, don't kill an animal just for that, they have their own instincts just as we humans attack to defend ourselves/others. Leave them be wild, don't remove trees, build settlements where they live, don't support ivory trade, let them be wild and allow them to live freely.

The last thing I'm going to do is be told by a bunch of over privileged white folks with European trust funds large enough to be a "conservationist" what is moral and what isn't. These poor folks live in abject poverty unimaginable to us in the west. The palm oil industry offers them things we take for granted like electricity, running water, education.etc. I don't think it's fair to shut them out of opportunities like our children have over a bunch of animals that are so called "critically endangered". That's a bunch of BS they are using to control the narrative. It seems to me there are too many elephant mouths to feed which is why I think it's a bunch of bull spit!! I'd like to see an independent survey done. The only reason they wants there animals around is for white tourists. Do you see the locals advocating any of this BS? Nope just that one woman that is clearly a sell out to the west. I'll travel to Thailand regardless and ride as many elephants as I want. Go palm oil, this conservation Bullshit is just another form of white colonialism. Open your eyes people,! If I was the Indonesian government I would deport all of these Europeans immediately and take back my country.

This was hard to watch however it should be a timely reminder that we must do we can to save these magnificent elephants. Stop the cruelty and devastation if their habitat.

The Government seriously needs to step up and help the citizens who are vulnerable to the destruction and hostility of these animals and not back down to these so called wack job environmentalists. If they want to put the lives of a bunch of hostile field beasts over the lives and safety of human beings, . They can have their beloved elephants grow and cultivate their food and see how well that works out for them. The government needs to have some concern and respect for the people that feed everyone!! I'm a white American woman so when I say us American need to put a cork in it and stay out of this countries business, Their children have every right to economic opportunity just like our kids here in the West. Are you gonna say nope the elephants need the walking paths no jobs for you all! Who are we to tell them what their priorities need to be? We have our own problems to solve. I'm getting sick of hearing white western European and Americans talk about this like they own the place. They should deport all of you, this isn't your country, your arrogance is palpable.

I agree with craig foulds - Ban the sale of palm oil and palm oil products. No more deforesting for palm plantations - Imposing heavy fines and harsh prison sentences to the people who illegally trading wild baby and mature elephants - Boycott the tourist's "elephant rides" and NO MONEY given to the "elephant beggars" on the streets. Support the elephant - rescued organizations finacially.
