Mam can you please explain the difference between overload and short circuit

Assume you plug a 15 amps load into a 5 amps socket it's overload. Amps shoots up slowly as some resistance is present. Whereas when hot line comes in contact with ground or neutral or another hot directly without any load or resistance, current shoots up instantly. Mcb takes care of overload thru the bimetalic mechanism and shorts thru magnetic coil. Hope this helps.
