Wow thanks for this wonderful video and sooo glad you guys liked it that much! Haha I would argue that's it's a miracle design, but I'm really happy you feel that way ;) Regarding adding Gaia at a 2 player game to make it a 3 player game, I've never thought of it or tried it out, it might work but she would be weaker because she would have less strong turns for her. Maybe putting her at Expert would do the trick. As for the cards, they are all unique, some have similar effects or look alike, but there are no double in the game! Thanks again for this great video, it means everything to me that you guys enjoy Earth that much, me and Inside Up Games have been working like crazy on that game so seeing people enjoy it that much is so rewarding, that's the reason we've put all this work into it :)

ah i could have sworn i saw some repeats, i guess they were just similar. i'll edit that sentence out of the video since i was wrong! i mostly mentioned bringing gaia into the game to put pressure on players to try to race for the objectives, because currently in 2p the spread between first and second place on the objectives is so small (even if i do it at the end of the game i still get 2nd place) that some tension is lost :)

@@rahdo Yeah that could definitely be tried, don't know if it would be good or fun to add extra manipulation for Gaia, but it would work!

​@@maxtardif4959 well I'd say that the elegance of a deep crunchy yet quick game is a matter of principled design; don't overcomplicate rules, make actions do multiple things at once, improve upon tried-and-true inspirations, etc. But combine that with the balancing formula you somehow got, now _that_ is a "miracle of design" :p

Very underated in my opinion, but the super fast set up time of the game boosts the game up. Pull out the board, hand out the climate, ecosystem, fauna, etc. and you're ready to go!

I really enjoyed playing this. As soon as we were done with the first game, I was already racking my brain on how I could've done this or that differently to score more points. It's an easy game to learn and play, but there are soooo many ways to earn/optimize points.

yeah, it's currently my #1 game of 2023 (but it's a short list: #2 is rebuilding seattle, #3 is oranienburger kanal, #4 is pioneer rails, #5 is let's go to japan) (note, #3 - 5 are in flux, might shift around a bit) :)

The "it's a race" warning reminds me of my first plays with Space Base! It was so much fun building your engine, getting money and cool ships, that everyone tended to forget that it's a points race, and almost never too early to start plugging points into your engine. Similarly there was nothing to prod the players to "move along" but it doesn't truly feel like a flaw to me.

It seems like a mashup between Race for the Galaxy and Wingspan. No true turn limit, but when the 1st person completes their tableau, it's over. Plus the many uses of cards. I recently played it twice and that's the impression I get. Overall a great game, but not a "killer" of any other game. It takes previously used mechanics and integrates them very well in a fresh and new way.
