But I find your comment offensive .😅 When your spine is permanently C shaped from searching the ground, digging hundreds of 18th-19th century privies and wells, countless miles swinging metal detectors in rough terrain rain or shine, hand digging and sifting trenches in the Rockies, tossed in the air by cattle, chased by a badger, fallen down hidden mine shafts, permanent wrist plate from falling through a 19th century floor into the crawlspace, half buried fom bank cave ins, just to name a few. After 45 years, was it worth ending up on disability, Hell yes!

Great video! I grew up in the village of Tuscarawas that’s between Schoenbrunn and Gnadenhutten. The Tuscarawas River ran right past us. My friends and I would wait till spring for the area farmers to disc up the fields. We would walk up and down the rows looking for a little sparkle in the dirt. We found points ranging from small bird points to a nice approx 4” spear point. If we didn’t find anything on some of the days we were hunting, we would wait until a nice rain hit and they sparkle like diamonds.

Overstreet has MANY inconsistencies and false information, it's not the end all be all to say the least. As a very rough and roundabout guide for certain types and ages etc sure. It works fine as a roundabout guide, if anything it can sometimes print people in the right direction at least, in terms of knowing what it is you're trying to research or learn about. Don't take anything in those books as gospel or as complete and total fact, because there are many flaws in all the Overstreet editions, every one of them.

Hey there, Mr. Clegg I enjoyed the episode and especially the enthusiasm. I actually thought you stepped on an arrowhead for a second there. That’s how I found my first projectile point when I was a little boy and I have been hooked ever since. I have moved on to other larger artifacts and have actually gone out on a excavations overseas and in America. Not only cannot find them now, but I can make a few of them from time to time. I live in the south east United States, but we get all kinds of odds and ends down here. That point that you saw but could not readily date might be a Monona point because it has the right profile. Broad stem with a flat face and a little bit of a notch on both sides, but not at the corners. They are usually found in Wisconsin and Illinois near the rivers, especially further north, but the Indians did not restricted themselves to boundaries on maps. You’ve got a nice box set :-).

@csluau5913Ай бұрын
@@cleggsadventures it does look like a Scottsbluff to be sure, but the trick is looking at the base. To be honest, it could just be a one off. I don’t think the ancient Native Americans really cared about how we classify the points and the tools that they made. I do a little bit of chipping and flaking myself. I’m a little better at making the other types of tools, then projectile points, but I knock one out if I need to. It’s amazing that people did and how skilled they were doing it. It is definitely worth the respect. when you think about it, everyone has an ancestor that knew how to do this along time ago. Every continent.
