I'm 31 years old and play in heavy metal bands mostly, but there is no denying EWF is one of the greatest bands EVER. Every aspect, the song writing, the performances of the individuals, the whole band, Verdine's basslines. Maurice's voice.. just everything man. Their music makes me feel good. So lucky to have had parents who introduced me to this incredible era of music. RIP Maurice.

Glad you love them, at 31 years old, your still young, I started listen to the EW&f at 12 years old, thats was 1972, then I started collecting every album, but I took it to another level , I started see the band at Madison Square garden 1975 and 1979, to see them in concert they blew my mind , in the beginning of early 70s they did a lots of magic on the stage, Maurice I had a crush at 12 years old ,I was still loving the Jackson five , Michael was two years older then me that was 1968 I was 8 year old so back in the day EW&f Would perform at Madison Square garden and j5 would be there ones a year so I was love with j5 music and loving EW&f But let me tell you No one period could touch EW&F even before Michael Jackson became king of pop, he wanted to meet The earth wind and fire ,he been to there shows reported by Jermaine Jackson, they all loved the band, you should try to listen to the gratitude album its lived by EW& F I still have the lived album , it will blow your mind , the way they interact with the audience Still a fan Maurice is gone but was a genius, prince loved verdine white Maurice brother , his another brother plays the drums. .

I think thats what cool about music. You can have your own personal way of expressing yourself as an individual which may be metal, punk, rap, jazz, classical, pop, folk, funk. polka electro-ambient, black metal, rock n roll, country, etc..but you can listen and be inspired or enjoy anything that moves you, any aritst.. but I'm sure EWF had diverse influences. Hendrix loved bob dylan. I agree w your post 100.

I remember seeing EWF at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, in 1977. To this day it was the best concert I have ever been to. The Emotions opened and sang the Best of my love. Denise Williams came on then Ramsey Lewis, EWF came on last. They did their sets and at the time Getwaway had just come out and they had not sung it. They went backstage the crowd went crazy thinking the show was over but yelling for them to come back on stage - they came back out and did Get Away - that was one of the loudest crowds I have ever been in., couldnt hear the song.

Think again. You have your timing just a little bit wrong. "Getaway" was released in the summer of 1976. The Spirit album which had Getaway as it's lead single was released in August 1976. You are correct that the Emotions was on the tour that you witnessed in the fall of 1977. 'All in All' was released in the fall of '77, and 'Serpentine Fire' wasn't added to their show until late 1977, and early '78.

However, these tickets will be honored, but after 2020 I was hoping for things to get back to normal...I’m almost 68 years old, and there will never be any band as brilliant as EW&F... nothing brings me more joy than their music. They had three shows…I went to two of them…tried to make the third but couldn’t get tickets! The absolute greatest live show I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing…and believe me folks, back then, I practically lived in the Capitol Centre! I went to shows back then as if there was nothing else to do on earth 🌍…I saw them all…from The Average White Band to Frank Zappa, yep from A to Z and Everyone in between! A plethora of great artists, in practically every style of music imaginable…but make no mistake…the “Elements of the Universe”…Earth 🌍, Wind 💨, & Fire 🔥, were unforgettable!!!🕶🥁🎶🎼🎵🎤🎭

Saw this show at the Bingley Hall, Stafford, UK. Gamechanger for me. EWF fan ever since. All that energy, those horns and vocals! Wow. At the end of the show, the band went into the pyramids, they were hoisted and then collapsed = no band! They then reappeared in masks if I recall correctly. Great show and with theatrical elements too. Torchbearers for the future almost 50 years ago!

I have heard a couple EW&F songs before of course like September, but I heard more of their stuff lately and now watching this recording omg omg they are legends. every song is a hit. every song gives me a high and I feel like I'm on drugs. They are playing instruments and dancing and so tight. LEGENNNDSSS . I was born in the wrong decade and wish I couldve been here.

Why? This is only a small part of the concert. I’m sure they played songs off the Spirit album too. Unfortunately, we just don’t have that footage.
