Don't know about y'all, but I need a cigarette after watching this! WOW!!!! Morris and Verdine together is just out of this world bad-ass!!! Brothers and sisters - this was an event! Thanks for posting it and sharing it with the world. Spectacular doesn't cut it. In fact, there aren't enough superlatives in the dictionary to cover it!!! I can almost hear Ringo shouting "I've got blisters on my fingers!" after this! Had to play it twice just to take it all in. Will watch it again now!

I think what the problem is Verdine never was featured as a standout in the group Earth Wind and Fire. I mean he was never given a solo while he was with EWF. So people assumed that he was a great guitar player. Maybe if he played with no one else playing. The little that was shown in these clips was not enough to judge his guitar skills fairly for me

The more I look into it, the more I’m convinced that Verdine White is a fraud. Evidences I’ve found so far: 1. I found countless instances during live shows, where his hands are not matching his playing or he’s fixing his hair but the bass line is still going etc. Even in this video, he’s miming. His hands are in a completely wrong position as to what we hear, 1:24 onwards. 2. His solos during live concerts or jam sessions are really awful, it’s like his playing suddenly downgrades as soon as he starts soloing. 3. Maurice White is his brother, which could be how this was covered up for so long 4. His overall technique is terrible when you see it live, makes you wonder how he played songs with elaborate bass lines like “In the Stone” with that technique 5. No, he’s not playing worse because of old age. Real greats like Stanley Clarke, Nathan East, Anthony Jackson etc. are all nearly 70 but you don’t see their playing abilities decline with age.

PeteJordanBass Plenty of evidence on KZbin. Just watch closely and focus on Verdine and the Bassline. His handsmovement, hand positioning, turning his back etc...search bass forums...a lot of bassplayers are doubting him. Also his demo’s at NAMM are stupid where it is pretty obvious that he is not the groovy player we all thought he would be. He plays under a track, which he may event not played himself, so he can dance, run and fix his hair on stage and making al those faces as he is working hard. I’m a huge EW&F fan, Al McKay fan, saw them live throughout the years, I’m 100% sure Verdine is fake and is def not the recording bassplayer. Just a stage performer and signature of EW&F. Search the video where he is on stage with Marcus Miller and Larry Graham, and please tell me what he is doing??? Watch his videos at NAMM demo’s and please tell me what he is doing? Watch his video with his grandchild and please tell me that he even sucked at miming the Bassline. I play bass, professionally, I played a lot of EW&F songs...Verdine plays it all in the first fret!!!! Please tell me how??!!
