We've become unimaginable if like others in the comments convey that it has no story. It is Science Fiction Fantasy. Before video, there was a good book. And yes I do believe. Without a storyline, there is no books. Yet the imagery tells the story in its conceptions of the artists intent. It looses simplicity if widely elaborated... I like it because it tells the same story I fantasized as a sci fi reader. I must admit though some SciFi books were so elaborate that I became lost in the heady world of the author like Issac Asimov "Foundation Trilogy" It was so long... I need to give it a try again...

Great job Dust, we don't need another planet we need to change if we find another planet we would be carrying our problems of poor ability to manage our basic emotions and our lock of ability to adapt to a measured consumption of natural resources. We would destroy any place we colonize, earth was created to sustain life and it's not too late to develop a sense of respect for the natural resources by closing all oil extraction right away because fossil fuels are no longer needed for the development of society.

Funny, I do, almost as a rule now. Lately, I’ve been really getting into Alien and Star Wars Lore documentaries and almost without fail I’ll get absolutely absorbed in the comments to glean additional details and conversations, and it’s always “just one more, then I’ll start the video.” Sometimes for hours, on a 9 minute doc. It’s getting a little sad, though, engaging in conversations (good) that are often 5-6 years old (sad). At least I don’t sit there strumming my fingers, waiting on a reply, so there’s that. Huh. Kinda like now.

I agree since all humanity can all fit in the state about the size of Texas with 100 square feet available to each person maybe we should put our resources into the uninhabited parts of the Earth. I'm not talkin rainforest and tearing stuff down. But I think we are smart enough to figure out how to live on our own planet and make our deserts bloom. I guess people are just too lazy. Rich people just keep throwing money at the problem because they really don't have a care in the world. They're set. And mean with our satellites we can see old trails like the Silk Road, we could see old ancient dried-up River beds all over the Sahara and Australia but we could also see where there is still water in the deserts of the world. Israel was a wasteland comparable to a third world country until the Jews came and made their Desert Bloom. A country that small in that dry of a region is one of the top exporters of produce and fruit in the world. They perfected drip irrigation which change the whole game. I will never understand the Africans that live in these places with no food and no water. The animals had enough sense to follow the water and food. All We Do is throw money at people who live in arid regions and are dehydrated. Maybe it's time for some knowledge to be passed along. Learn how to do go dig a well, learn how to water your crops properly. And obviously you would have to see if the environment that you are in is survivable without outside assistance. But I guess I will never know because I don't live there and I don't have to experience what they have to experience. It has to be horrible but I guess that's why it's our job to teach instead of throwing money at them or crappy food.

There is no real need to go and try and inhabit other worlds, the one we have here would be perfect if we just cared for it, utilised all the alternative energy we have and the enormous land and sea space that's available. Earth can easily accommodate man for hundreds of millions of years IF we are smart and stop strangling the damn thing. Would be far easier to 'terraform' the Sahara and other uninhabited spaces on our own planet, the Oceans have vast spaces where it would be a lot easier and cost efficient to create undersea cities and communities. There is plenty of room here for mankind we just have to be clever with our science and we can live here for eons. Maybe a few thousand years from now man might have developed faster than light travel and then we can seek out planets that are already suitable for life without trying to create atmospheres and magnetic belts...then again for F we've perfected living under the sea there is always our conveniently located Moon upon which to build colonies.
@DLmadison1006 жыл бұрын
The "hope" of colonizing other worlds is not so much about overpopulation exhausting Earth's resources as it is about preserving the race of mankind through dispersal to other worlds and star systems... Ultimately, other galaxies as well. We can see in the Earth's own planetary surface, as well as that of other planets in our solar-system, ample evidence of extra planetary mass impacts. Natural disasters, catastrophic wars, and other threats to human existence endanger the continuance of the human race and, the best solution to safeguarding humanity's existence lies in off-world colonization. It is the most reasonable thing for mankind to do. We must continue to develop plans and operational systems for colonizing other worlds. We dream of reaching out into the stars and, the worlds and resources that they hold beckon us to come and develop them and make them our own. Expansionism is in our DNA: I feel the call of the stars, don't you? If I may add, I would further propose that, if other forms of intelligent life are out there, traveling between the stars, they are following their expansionist, race preserving ambitions as well. If they are hostile toward other space faring sentient beings, I'd rather we'd run into them out there, among the stars of other worlds, than to find them one day in orbit around our planet, seeking to transform it into a world more suitable to their liking for habitation, despite our pathetic isolationist pleas and protestations to their plans.

If you terraform, or I assume make green, the Sahara Desert, then the Amazon Rain Forest will die. The reason being that the soil in the Amazon is thin and nutrient poor. The dust blown off from the dried lake beds in the Sahara desert travel across the Atlantic Ocean and fertilize the Amazon. This has been known for a long time. This is what makes possible the lush greenery. When the Sahara was green, the Amazon was grasslands.

All exposition and no story. Nicely done, but exposition must take a back seat to story for it to be truly evocative. Translation: you could have used a real human narrator or two rather than the deus ex machina data dump you used. And there was no real story aside from the description of the founding of this off-Earth colony. Some sort of story progression would have sealed the deal. If the makers are reading my comment, please don't get too upset at my criticism. I enjoyed watching your film. But your video quite effectively set the stage for a narrative story that never came. But keep it up. You're all obviously quite talented.

Agreed, and sad because it seemed to have some great potential ... but just ended flat. The last major thought I had was journey to mars starts in 2012 and humans do not arrive until 3 to 4 centuries later. Hmm interesting but why so long. This was not even part of the actual plot, yet that is pretty much my ending thought and ponderment. After that I kept expecting something more to happen or something else to ponder, but it never did and never went beyond the basic plot that we start off with.

Visual acuity is only present in ~2 degrees of the entire visual field and at best can see about 7 megapixels. the rest of your field of view can see ~1 megapixel. Remember your eyeball is constantly moving. There comes a point of diminishing returns where an increase in resolution can't be seen by the human eye. Unless you are investing in an 85" television, save your money. You won't perceive the difference between 4K and 8K (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/anqYgmaLjdB6mpI).
