Wouldn't be too surprised if Andonuts sounding like a middle school bully at the end was the whole point. Like, he'd gone through all that shit himself and the end is him lashing out in a way he knows how. I think the fact that he fixates on the F slur as much as he does lends credence to this, considering his own repressed homosexuality in the hack.

@@wannabecinnabon Yeah, i've only seen few playthroughs of the hack (cause why would I watch tens of the same thing) and haven't really seen anyone struggle against him. And that's what he really says at the end, he's angry at Varik and in his mind he's pretty much a god or so he claims. Despite this, he can't beat Varik. He's not strong enough. It kinda hits hard when at the end he just goes silent and disappears from the battle screen and your party doesn't gain any exp. (something that would carry o er to UT) means we weren't the ones to deal the final blow, he just ended himself in front of us. The game tells a rather tragic story of Dr. Andonuts all the way from beginning to the end. This is why I consider the Halloween Hack a fairly decent game, at least from the story narrative. It has flaws but there's also a soul in there, several things from it would carry over to Toby's future works.

Sadly that was what 2000s angst and edge can do. I figure there was a reason Toby disowned it. It is interesting to see some elements that eventually had a touchup and made it into Undertale in one form or another. Still, I wonder what a 2024 remake would be like if this hack was not already remade, I mean besides toning down the swears, especially Andonauts.

Even Toby Fox himself would actually agree with you. He has outright come out and said himself that he regrets making this hack. Interesting to see the origins of the most recognizable boss theme in Indie history, though.
