yeah, but it isn't just a +3. It's a possible +6 and arguably too consistent at that to boot. Runick anything is effectively the deck getting hard carried by the field spell+ quickplays

runick makes everything that isn't going for a turn 2 OTK, doesn't need its own field spell to function, has a few extra deck spaces open, and doesn't lock you into certain types/attributes/ED summons, better, but it's extremely easy to interrupt, and loses incredibly hard to targeting protection, so it's pretty easy to counter in games 2 and 3. but yeah, it's so splashable and strong because of that splashability, because even if the quick play spells range from decent to bad compared to a lot of generic staples, they do have good effects and keep the draw engine humming, and having a deck that's like 50% copies of instant fusion, even if the targets are restricted in what they can do, makes synchro and xyz plays plays so consistent it's disgusting. honestly if we still had to summon ED monsters to only the EMZ or a link arrow, runick would probably be a fine, since the instant fusions would just be a one-time link material and that's it.

It's really damn nice, and the fusions they can summon are nice too. But ultimately you can brick mega hard on 3 draws. You shuffle the 3 Runicks in hand into the bottom of the deck, which means your chance is essentially the pre-shuffle Runick/remaining deck.

@10:40 Amazing HERO topdecks from the opponent. Assuming they were on 2 Vyon/Increase, they could summon mali in attack position, hit Keeper to take 300 dmg, place Increase from the GY, MP2 Increase tribute Mali to get 2nd Increase, Crusader revive mali tribute search Stratos, NS Stratos and add Plasma (if not banished randomly by runicks), banish mali for mali (the spinned back 1 via Favorite) and get Plasma on the field to SUCC Chaos Angel. Not saying it would win from that spot, just wondering if the deck would have a better reputation if more "competitive" players actually gave it a chance.

I love that in the past 2-3 years we've had several really old decks get support that made them meta relevant. Dark World is a looming threat (but kept in rogue tier by Droll being everywhere), Fire King is absurdly powerful, Light Sworn getting new support that breaks the deck pretty much, and Earthbounds being a good budget engine that also can be a competent deck (when prices settle and TCGPlayer doesn't have $20 listings for the supers).

That is not how priority works. The earthbound effects start a chain. Once the trigger effects activate the opponent then gets priority with any fast effects. In other words, you can never "chain block" using quick effects.

Harmonic Synchro Fusion is kinda amazing, and I kinda wanna see a deck that wants you to make a purple and white just to xyz them into something with a cool mechanic and payoff, like it can only have material from within the archetype but can gain the effects of it's materials and you wanna stack those effects vendread style? Idk an idea from the top of my head, you can probably do better

This could work if we ever get more entity support to make it a true cohesive archetype. Since the 2 XYZ monsters have effects based on if they were summoned using fusion and/or synchro monsters as material.

This is roughly what the Entity "deck" was attempting. Azathot has a board wipe that requires having fusion, syncro, and xyz as materials, and the expected way to get there is by summoning it over a Nyarla that was made with an Elder and an Old Entity. Both the best extender and the payoff got banned for other reasons and the payoff for making Azathot that way being dark hole once wasn't really enough to begin with, but the idea was interesting.

@@cjcayer2232 Well no I feel that's a slight stretch, Entity has a real problem of it's (exclusively extra deck) monsters expecting to be made using each other as material, and it's support that helps with summoning them assuming you already control them. Of the two fusions, both take 2 syncro/ xyz monsters as material, and one exclusively contact fuses and demands one of each while the other was pretty much exclusively used as an Instant Fusion target and was banned for it's crimes. Harmoic Syncro Fusion carries/ enables a similar plan in concept but I don't think it actually works too well for Entity because of how _they_ are. They're also all level/ rank 4 except for rank 5 Azathot, which makes the syncro side awkward. I was just saying that Entity tried to do what you were suggesting. Hopefully we'll see Konami revist the idea.

Harmonic has interesting potential in several decks so I am curious if players will run just Harmonic or an Earthbound package. Personally I think harmonic could be playable in both Gold Pride and Dracoslayer. Probably wouldn’t make either top tier, but still a fun card to mess around with.

And that last game is the reason why Runick Fountain is at 2. Because once you get rid of 2 of them, those field spells lose a shit ton on their power. Not being able to activate all those interruptions on the opponents turn makes the deck play fair. It just so happens that in this metagame that ain't enough, but a lot of time, it can be.

Around 1:52 That's on the manga which ironically has a better ending then the anime, on the anime, a bunch of people die and everyone focus on making a baby smile because of a bunch of plot points that came out of nowhere, oh and the people who spend all of their screen time looking for some of the dead are happy with their deaths... 'Cause we need to produce Vrains and the stuff had no idea of what to do after they spend an unnecessary amount of time in the Synchro dimension... What everyone knows this is the truth, the Synchro dimension didn't have the right to be this long having in mind that in the majority of the tournament arc and prison arc lead to freaking nothing most of the time.

@16:20 G3 you could have pushed a little. CL1 Fountain CL2 Kirin if you chained Freezing then Fountain wouldnt "see" the activation. But since these are all triggers you could go CL3 for your Hugin then on the next chain as turn player you could go CL1 Fountain (for 2) CL2 Hugin and then the opponent would go CL3 Garunix (or IP etc...). Being uber greedy you could reverse Hugin and Fountain for a potential draw 3 but it's not worth it imo
