Ventura Ca fault capable of 8.0. There are tsunami warning signs all over Ventura. When i lived their i was always scared of a tsunami when stuck in traffic on 101 freeway right along the ocean. We also had a 5. Something channel island earthquake back in 2019/18? Then there was a tsunami around Lompoc/Gaviota area in the historical records as well.

@@beez991 the ventura pitas point is now capable of a 8.1 if it ruptures with multiple faults on land if u read the latest studies. U will also find there r west to east trending faults all thru the transverse range mountains. They r what is lifting up the mountains. Every new study on each fault pretty much says this.

I experienced the 1978 5.1 earthquake in the Santa Barbara/Goleta area. Was very strong for a 5.1 and I was in Goleta which suffered the most damage. I had read it was the most destructive earthquake in the US that year. I'm in Washington State now but my son still lives there. This current swarm is in that same area and a swarm preceded the 78 quake so I told my son to keep aware. There was lots of damage in Goleta and UCSB and was even a train derailment. There is a wiki page about it if anyone is interested, just search for 1978 Santa Barbara Earthquake. I don't think they ever determined which fault it was on.

@@Imlucky13 the 1812 santa barbara quake and tsunami they now think was on one of these faults offshore. It made a big enuf tsunami to reach hawaii cause it is in their records on same day of the quake. They say it was a 7.0 at least. Two weeks before the santa barbara quake san andreas had a 7.9.

@@Imlucky13 those two big quakes happened in december 1812. 1812 just happens to be same year as the three new madrid quakes. So north america was rocking with multiple 7s. If that happened now it woukd destroy our economy. This happened about 200 years ago but way less population and infrastructure around then.
