The part beginning at 3:28 .....I cant find words that adequately describe how beautiful that was. Memories from earlier years in my life flooded me. A fine example of just how powerful music really is!

Stefan, I tend to look at music as a method of conveying emotion beyond words. There are only so many words for the emotions we feel but music can be much more nuanced....and it tends to be a little more “connecting” to me. The music in this video feels like a snapshot of someone’s soul at a moment when they were getting over something incredibly sad. I don’t know, I can’t describe it. It’s just that the music at 3:29 moved me to tears. You’re unbelievably talented. You sold me the pedal. I bought it today based solely on this video.

Thank you very much! I'll leave the bass playing to the pros. Wouldn't sound great if I did it. That's why I sometimes get help from my friends in my demos, if I feel a pedal really needs a bass example. But every EQD pedal works great on bass :) I just use a Boss EV-5. But any passive expression pedal should do. EQD recommend Moog expression pedals.

You can't turn the delay and reverb on and off individually. But you can set an expression pedal to control the delay mix. To really hear the avalanche and other modulation, reverb effects would use a boost in the first link of your pedal chain? Can you school me a bit on boost pedals? Thanks for your time and energy Stefan🙏🏽⛩️🌌

Well, a lot of persons would put a delay, reverb, or modulation effect in the effects loop, not in the front of the amp (the latter is what Stefan seems to have done). As always, let taste be your guide. I'm unsure why he's using a boost pedal. It could be that the Avalanche Run causes a volume drop that the boost is compensating for. Or he may just like the sound of the boost he's using.

Stefan, your demos are epic, I'm currently planning a small pedalboard for travel and instant fun (vs my huge pedalboard which requires a private jet pilot certificate to use). It'll be a nano+, so size matters. Just a few questions : - Would you go for a separate delay and reverb ? (Like a Belle Epoch + Neunaber Immerse combo, or anything else you might advice) - Or a delay/reverb combo, in which case this one is a strong contender, but I was also waiting for the Keeley Caverns 2 (but here also if you have other suggestions I'm opened to them). I mainly play prog and post-rock and some ambient stuff. Cheers, and again, kudos for your channel and the beautiful playing. You should definitely make a video on your ambien techniques, chords, etc. Keep up the great work!

+OverJam52 - First: Thank you for the kindness, man. I'm totally blown away by it :) Second: I'd definitely go for the Avalanche Run. It's a one stop post-rock machine. The reverb is stunning, and the delay can be as crisp and clean or as warm and lush as you want. Plus the reverse mode is one of the best reverse delays I've ever played. On top of that, the creative features are so well thought out. Like the expression capabilities or the Hold to go between reverse and normal delay or Hold for instant self-oscillation. This thing is simply a must have for anybody playing the genres that you and I play :) Can't recommend it enough.

Yeah, it's pretty rad! Doesn't make the Kilobyte and Météore any less rad though. They just do different things. Kilobyte is my go-to delay. That thing just sounds so sweet. And the Météore is one of the most unique reverbs currently on the market. But for all immersive ambience, I always go for the Avalanche Run :)

Your music is seriously incredible.. I was looking to buy a Neunaber Immerse, and later on a delay pedal. Your playing blew my mind and I'm considering this now. I initially turned away from it because it seems limited on its reverb options. I LOVE ambient reverb, I'd like to play with soundscapes, but I'm less on the experimental+digital side. (Like I wouldn't need the "intergalactic robot birds" :) The reverse/swell sounds with the expression pedal sound amazing too. I'm curious if you would recommend this pedal over a reverb pedal and a delay pedal? Thank you..!

I would recommend the Avalanche Run to anybody in a heartbeat. It’s my favorite pedal, and I use it all the time. It’s basically used in 90% of my demos, and it’s always on in my band 😊 It’s the perfect pedal whether you’re looking for subtle ambience or deep soundscapes. If you need a lot of different reverb and Delay sounds, then individual pedals might be better. But if you just need a simple pedal that sounds straight up gorgeous no matter how you set it, then the Avalanche Run is a nobrainer. It’s far from limited. Hook up an expression pedal and you can control whatever you want on it in real time with your foot. On top of that, its reverse delay is the best reverse delay I’ve ever heard, and its reverb is just flawlessly epic. So in short, yes, I highly recommend this pedal ❤️

Hey Man - I have a question as you stated how much you love the Dispatch master. I bought that pedal years ago and can't seem to enjoy it, yet this demo sounds absolutely amazing. If I bought this pedal would I likely be disappointed? I'm just looking to make some amazing soundscapes, I feel like it isnt possible with the dispatch alone. Maybe Im just missing something massive. Admittedly i am a pedal noob
@thepedalzone
@thepedalzone 6 жыл бұрын
I absolutely adore the Dispatch Master. It’s the perfect ambience device. Not a bad sound in it. But it’s not a huge soundscape device, if that’s what you were hoping for. Avalanche Run in the other hand is a soundscape monster. It’s basically the Dispatch Master taken to a whole new level of extraordinary ambience. If you want to make ambient music, then this pedal is a must. I use it ALL THE TIME. I use it in around 90% of my demos, and it’s been nailed to my board ever since I got it. Can’t recommend it enough ❤️🤘

Amazing playing, amazing sound! Are all those sounds just from this one pedal? Or are there some other stuff going on in the background to enhance the sound of the avalanche? I know extremely little about pedals, but I want something so I can mess about with some ambient sounds on the guitar, so I want to know if this is all I need to get. Only other pedal I have is the boss rc 3 looper. Thanks, Stefan!
@thepedalzone
@thepedalzone 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, all of the reverb and delay is coming from the Avalanche Run. It is 100% one of the best ambience devices ever made. Can't recommend it enough. Nothing is going on in the background to enhance the sound of it. I use a looper for the final composition and a touch of overdrive for the solo, but all of the reverb and delay you're hearing (be it normal, reverse, subtle and deep) is coming from the Avalanche Run.

Hey Stefan, which pedal do you like better? The immerse or avalanche run and why?
@thepedalzone
@thepedalzone 5 жыл бұрын
Well, I don't really think it's fair to put them head to head. Avalanche Run is a Delay/Reverb with emphasis on the delay portion, whereas the Immerse is a dedicated multi-function reverb. Sure, it has a delay mode, but the clear emphasis is on the wealth of reverb options. I would run them both on my board any day of the week. Yes, I clearly use my Avalanche Run more, it's just a perfect do-it-all ambient device to me, but I always stack it with another reverb, and that reverb has been the Immerse a lot of times up until I got my Meris Mercury7 that is ☺ I know this doesn't answer your questions, but the pedals are just so different. If you're looking for a lot of different reverb options, then go for the Immerse. If you on the other hand are looking for a gorgeous all-in-one ambient device, then go Avalanche Run ☺👍

@thepedalzone
@thepedalzone 2 жыл бұрын
It's a MOOG EP-3. Very affordable expression pedal that does the job perfectly. Its only downside is that it's entirely made of plastic. So probably not the most sturdy creation in the world, but other than that it's great. If you're on a strict budget, then check out the MOOG. If you have a bit more money, then look into something like the Boss EV-30 or the Mission Engineering EP-1 or EP-25.

How would you rate this pedal against a Tonal Recall or a Nemesis? I'm looking for a workhorse for my first delay pedal and all these guys seem grade A+... Thanks for the fantastic videos as always!
@thepedalzone
@thepedalzone 6 жыл бұрын
All the pedals you mention are indeed top tier picks, but they are also very different. So it all comes down to what you need. The Avalanche Run is an ambient workhorse. They way the delay and reverb work together is just pure magic. So if you like to make ambient soundscapes then it's a no-brainer. Tonal Recall is an analog delay, hence way darker and murkier than the other two in your sight. So go for that if you need that murky bubbly ambience surrounding your notes, but don't go for it if you need a pristine and percussive delay. Nemesis is a multi-delay with a ton of different delay types. If you use a lot of different delays during a set, then that would be a great pick. Another delay worth checking out if you need a multi-delay with presets is the Empress Echosystem. It's the best one in its class. Hope this helps :)

Ved du om man kan lave "nøjes" med en Dispatch Master, hvis man skal have reverb/delay-lyden du har fra 3:28 til slutningen af videoen? (udover en Ditto, selvfølgelig) :-)
@thepedalzone
@thepedalzone 7 жыл бұрын

Peter
