Ace, fantastic, brilliant. I’ve followed Nick and his gear journey for several years now and he never fails to be engaging, humorous, irreverent and yet incredibly serious about his craft at the same time. I grew up going to see Tera Melos, Portugal The Man, and The Fall of Troy. Nick is definitely a guitar hero of mine-along the same lines of a Tom Morello, Thomas Erak, or Omar Rodriguez. But he’s technically proficient as well even tho he uses tons of effects. The way they navigate sound is so interesting.

The new jazz chorus amps have a modified distortion circuit if I’m not mistaken, the jc40 does at least. It sounds a bit like a rat, definitely better than the previous models famously had distortion unit. But I just use my twin reverb and will use the fender pro jr that’s coli my in when I want tube amp grit, and use various pedals to push them. Compressors sound beautiful through the jazz chorus amps.

I saw Nick and Juan do a demo/clinic in Portland in April of 2019. Watching those two jam together with just bass/guitar and pedalboards was one of the most genre shattering experiments in technology I had seen in years. There are a select few musicians out there truly pushing boundaries and trying to find new territory within the guitar rock genre. Nick Reinhart is absolutely bridging new paths between musical genres that hadn't previously existed. It might be a bit clumsy and chaotic, but that's what innovators do. It's a beautiful thing to witness... also, Aphex rules.
