“Are you ever not smiling when you play this stuff?” That question pretty much hit the nail on the head for one of the big reasons Nick and his unique approach to weird sounds is so admirable to me. Just having fun dorking around just ‘cause!

Yeah it's unbelievable the bad rep Squier has. I have like 5 of them (Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe) and I adore them. A well set up Squier completely slays a stock Player (MIM) Fender.

Great RR !! One Note: the GK pickups are NOT MIDI....they are "hex" or hexaphonic in nature. They pickup SIX signals, one per string. they send these six DISCRETE signals down the 13-pin cable to the device at the other end (several GR-series, VG-series, GP-10, OC20G and a few other devices). There is NO MIDI INVOLVED in most of those endpoint devices UNLESS you engage their "MIDI OUT" function, to drive/control another synth or FX device. The hex pickup, and the 13-pin, is the conduit for AUDIO, not data. The 13-pin protocol is the six separate strings/audio, the regular guitar signal (all 6 strings together, as in 'time immemorial electric guitar out'), the other wires are for synth control, volume, phantom power etc. Just wanted to clarify that since I meet people ALL the time who get these and are then confused that they CAN'T PLUG RIGHT INTO MIDI 5-pin DIN etc. Otherwise -- awesome informative and fun Rundown! Carry on......

About the boost at 19:28. I use an eq pedal as a boost in the fx-lopp of my amp, first in the chain before delay and chorus so it basically act as a volume/eq control for the amp. By bypassing the preamp i feel i get a better boost sound and it’s also great to a have 7-band eq to tweak the tone for solos.

To PREMIER Guitar: Nick is an ARTIST plain and simple.....there is just no way around this.....He oozes ideas, inspirations, creations .......He exhibits the never-ending ongoing thoughts of "What if I tried THIS" I honestly think the man could/would stop creating.....even if he had to........ A type of endless curious blizzard of possibilities ....and an absolute intolerance for boredom coupled with a sort of child-like curiosity..... One gets the feeling that if you were to sit him down with a "coloring book and crayons" and told him to "Only color within the lines and use the numbers on each space to match with the color assigned to that number (like paint by numbers)....Doing that with a guy like Nick would be to deprive everyone of the Genius -like ideas that would come from someone that really should be left alone to create What he will....dam the rules, dam the traditions, and conventions....Just give Nick the tools (which he would probably modify anyway) and stand back....and behold....What he will come up with...Well, God only knows but one thing you can be sure of....It WILL be interesting, and ORIGINAL.....Above all else one could say about the upcoming advanced Artificial Intelligence soon to come about.....even with it's supposed ability to do "Art" and write "music"...No matter how "advanced" it ever becomes it WILL NEVER...COULD NEVER" posses the spark that is in people like NICK REINHART....People like Nick are true rare diamonds,...one of a kind snowflakes that are precious beyond compare and simply not duplicate able...they really add meaning and depth to what it means to be called "Human Being"
