Buffers! Yes! Buffered tuner out, buffered A/B amp sends, buffered loops! They help! Finally people are starting to come around on the idea that buffers are beneficial for guitarists! I've been so sick of the hearing the "true bypass is the ONLY way to go" snobs for the past 10+ years.

But it breaks apart your guitar signal then puts it back together digitally and digital is bad /s
@alextbuck7

Maxon Mendel That’s only true with digital pedals with no analog dry out. A buffer is an analog device that’s just reducing capacitance from long cable runs. No digital processing is involved in a buffer.

If the tuner out sounds good enough, this would be great for a wet/dry/wet rig! Have your fx you want in the dry section before the swiss things, tuner out goes to the dry amp, the mono wet fx go in loops 1 and 2, and then the stereo out goes to the stereo wet fx for wet/dry/wet! What a great product, and a great demo! Well done guys!

Note: I wouldn't expect the tuner out to sound bad, but it may have phasing issues as it wasn't designed to deliver your signal to an amp, have you tried this and if so, how does it sound?

I make noise rock and have about 14 pedals. Been going the lazy cheapo route and only using a DI pedal to split for a stereo rig. Got to chat with a rep at an expo about my rig, and seems this is my best option on the market right now to basically play two completely different sounds simultaneously.

As a bassist with a pedalboard filled with 12 pedals. I don't do an awful lot of tap dancing, so adding a large multi loop switcher seemed impractical and would need a bigger board to fit it. The swiss things is just right for how I would utilize it without expanding my board size. I just purchased mine today. 😎

This is exactly what I was looking for. I was thinking about all the pedals I'd need for my board: a buffer pedal, an AB switch, a boost pedal, and some way to handle stereo. Now, I don't need to do any of that, because this pedal does all of those and more.
@SergioDuFont
@SergioDuFont 6 жыл бұрын
This is really well designed. After studying the signal path on your website A three way switch that could split the clean signal in parallel to -> Loop 1 -> Loop 2 Or -> Loop 1 -> Direct out or bypass the clean blend and send straight to loop 1 (as the current circuit is) would be a HUGE benefit to bass players, and would give guitarists more options too. Perhaps that may not work the way the gain structure of the circuit is currently designed but it’s just an idea that came to mind of a way it could be even more useful.

Very smart to set up Loop 1 for a Fuzz Face, Wah or whatever you have that does NOT like buffers. Really well thought out gizmo. It would be even better if it was possible to use Loop 1 before the preamp and loop 2 in an amp’s effects loop as an option. The pedal is super cool - just an idea.

Could the volume pedal be used as an attenuator for a cranked amp since there no signal loss? Also does this all mean you don’t use the effect loop in the amp and just go direct from Swiss things to the front of the amp or does it go in the effects loop return?

Very cool, but how would it work exactly in a typical Metal setup? I get my distortion sounds from my amp(s). I can’t really use these loopers to go from Dirty channel with my OD to a clean channel with delay, reverb and octaver, right? Also my octaver is always used on conjunction with my reverb and delay for ambient sounds. An octaver can can be used in loop 2 I assume? And my noise gate and OD (which is used for tone only, no real gain) should then be placed before the Swiss Things, correct? All in all it seems like a great product and I am looking into a 2 amp setup, but I would really like to be able to switch from heavy distortion sounds that come from my amps to a clean ambient passage on the go.

Hello, Really like the concept! Might get one for myself. I just have a question. In case loop 1 is NOT engaged and i am using an overdrive on my signal chain, then i engage loop 1, what happens to my overdrive? Does it turn off, and the other pedal switch on? And how do i program which pedals switch with loops engaged?
@EarthQuakerDevices
@EarthQuakerDevices 6 жыл бұрын
you put pedals in the loops where you want, and turn them on. then you step on the loop switches to engage the pedals in the loops. Nothing automatically turns off. Your OD would stay on unless you physically turned it off. You can't program anything. You would be adding the sound of the pedal or pedals in loop 1 to your OD sound if your OD was already on. If you put your OD in loop 1 and some other pedals in loop 2, you would control all of your pedals directly from Swiss Things. Hope this helps, and I hope I understood your question correctly.

Would this allow me to run stereo pedals truly in stereo and still have an A/B box? Most A/B boxes, even the expensive ones, won't let me make full use of my Empress Echosystem's two separate delay engines into two separate amps - they just have your whole board as one signal split between two amps.
@EarthQuakerDevices

The signal will indeed be in series and split between two amps. You will have to place a true stereo pedal after Swiss Things and use both outputs for true stereo use.

Swiss Things can't make you do anything, but you could put all of those things in one effects loop on Swiss Things and bring them all into your signal path with one push. But you would have to push the Wah also unless you use it in a fixed position. Is this a trick question?

Hi i got 2 brand new swiss things and both have signal coming out of OUT B even if it is muted... I tried with active pickups first, then with passive pickups it's less apparent but when i activate the boost switch it passes a bit of signal through the OUT B, enough so that i hear it clearly. Any ideas ??!

How would this be used if you only used one amp that has one input?
@EarthQuakerDevices
@EarthQuakerDevices 5 жыл бұрын
Hi TJ. You would connect output A to the input of your amp. You can then use the output B foot-switch as a mute control, and always have the option to easily connect a second amp if you get one at a later time.

Stereo? Or do you mean you can play two amps in mono at one time? Maybe, one clean and the other with effects. I can see using this through your amps effects chain and getting stereo but I don't think it is set up this way in the video. Is it?
@EarthQuakerDevices
@EarthQuakerDevices 6 жыл бұрын
you can use true stereo effects in true stereo, but they must be placed after Swiss things in the signal chain using both outputs

Yep, figured that one but its a shame there isn't a c along with the A/B. I run a separate pedal board for the back of the amp.

so my always on compressor would have to be placed between the guitar in and the swiss thingy?

doesn't have to but works great in that location.

Hello there! Could I use this magnificent device to do the following: I have a delay pedal (meet Maude) which doesn’t have the option for trails unfortunately. So would it be able to put it into some sort of loop where my signal would go into the pedal when I switch the loop on but if I don’t want to play into the input anymore and bypass the pedal that the delays, thus the output of the delay would still be summed to the guitar signal? Does it make sense even? I’m glad for some help :)
@EarthQuakerDevices
@EarthQuakerDevices 6 күн бұрын
You'd have to get a wet and dry signals from your delay pedal go thru a mixer. You sum up those two signals and a mono out from a mixer to a return input of the loop 2 on Swiss Things.

Can you still use the FX loop of the amp with this pedal, for modulation and delay...? It seems not, unless I missed something.

Swiss Things is designed to be placed before the input of your amp. That being said, you can place it within the effects loop and it does work well. All of Swiss things's attributes have to be within your amp's effects loop.

I'm trying to get a Noise gate to work in my setup, but can't get it to gate properly regardless of setting. I run it in lloop1 with 5 drive pedals. And it's the Revv G8 using it with the G8s internal Loop to gate the drive pedals. I never see anything with the Swissthings and a gate involved. I've had my Swissthings for a couple years now.

What about with stereo effects? All these products I see, are setup for mono effects.

To use effects in full stereo, you will have to place them after Swiss Things with both outputs engaged.

I have a holy grail that I leave on always on my board. I was thinking of putting it in the a/b loop so it can always be on regardless of whether I'm using loop 1 or 2. This won't affect my setup negatively? Any input is appreciated!
@EarthQuakerDevices
@EarthQuakerDevices 4 жыл бұрын
A and B are outputs, not an effects loop. You can place it after output A or B. The buffers in Swiss Things may or may not affect your holy grail's sound in a way that you can notice. I think you will be alright though!

Is there a way to use this with the FX loop on an amp? Plug the out of loop 1 into the input of the amp and the FX send into the return of loop 1?
@EarthQuakerDevices

I suggest using Swiss Things before the input of your amp.
@hatepaste

Wish it would be set up for stereo FX. And what if you wanna use amp distortion or it’s effects loop. It’s almost there. Finally have the ability to turn on and off the buffer in each loop then it could be perfect.

It would depend on what your set up is like honestly. Before or after Swiss Things is where I would suggest depending on what you are trying to achieve

So could I have a clean and dirty amp and just use this to "move my pedalboard" in between the two with unplugging all the cables? Also could I have effects going for a part then turn off the loop and switch amps? If so this is probably the best thing I've ever seen!
@EarthQuakerDevices
