déjà vu! This dude is such a trip. @18:33 he repeats , word for word, what Lee Ranaldo (from Sonic Youth) says describing the same cassette player in Ep. 18 (around 18:13 mark in that episode). Compare It. It is testament to how nerdy and weird Ed is and symbolizes the wack quirkiness that one can only expect from ze Deerhoof mind.

He totally was! So excited to find this channel. ALSO HOLY FUCK DO I NEED AN EARTH QUAKE PEDAL. I was always an electro harmonix guy. I haven’t had a working overdrive or chorus ( or any pedal ) since I stopped playing in a band 8 years ago. Now it’s weird wonky iOS synth madness I’ve fallen back in love with guitar again.. Not that you asked Sadfay! Sorry. Ha. I wish I could get a stimulus check to get a damn overdrive or delay. I’ve ever heard of Earthquake but I’m gg to wait and not buy second hand. They are super affordable apparently.
@Woji524 жыл бұрын
EarthQuakerDevices wow I’m a psycho. I didn’t see your teams comment on here.... I commented here in the first place to tell sadfay that he needs to check out the new Deerhoof album that came out. Unbelievable. I just stumbled upon it last night and now I find this interview! Up next Lee Ronaldo? yes please.

I only got into The 'Hoof like, a month or two before the lockdown--I saw the Milk Man performance on Juan's Basement and was knocked out by the them! Greg Saunier's an incredible drummer and I loved the interplay between Ed and John, it reminded me of The Magic Band--no demarcated lead or rhythm--so I bought the banana yellow 180gm Polyvinyl reissue of the Milk Man LP and was hooked! I have like 11 LP's and 3 singles now, including the Shining 7"--so good! Also have the ATP double 7" and the Deerhoof Vs. Evil picture disc with "Hitchcock" etc. on it, I Thought We Were Friends and also I recently bought all the vinyl reissues of the early LP's that were originally released on CD-R--Holdeypaws and The Man, The King, The Girl are great, Halfbird is wicked too (beautiful vinyl!). Splurged for the three LP bundle on the Kill Rock Stars (no, it was Joyful Noise iirc) label garage sale and got Offend Maggie on deep purple vinyl, Reveille on lovely mid-blue vinyl and Breakup Song on white. A bargain even with US to UK postage! Future Teenage Cave Artist was great and I hope they release the recent collabo with the jazz improviser--sorry, I forgot his name, I got it on MP3, though! I LOVE THIS BAND! Thanks for the look at Ed's junk!
@EarthQuakerDevices4 жыл бұрын
hell yeah, glad you dug it. thank you for spreading the word! *wink*
@vollsticks4 жыл бұрын
@@EarthQuakerDevices Oh mate they're definitely my fave contemporary band! Just a big 'ol smoosh of TALENT and incredibly interesting records! Only LP that gets a 3 out of 5 for me is Mountain Moves. A bit too...gimmicky for my taste. But everything from The Man The King The Girl to Reiville to Apple O and especially Milk Man--BLOODY INCREDIBLE. Hell, Future Teenage Cave Artist is wonderful...Friend Opportunity has to be one of my faves, though. Nothing I've heard sounds remotely like that masterpiece. Just an incredible band.

Huge fan of these guys for years, seen them live at least 8 times and this video was everything I expected. These guys are next level sound alchemists. Every album feels completely different from the last. Offend Maggie has some of rock n roll's greatest jams though. My Purple Past, Eaguro Guro, and Numina O....god damn. The exploration in the later albums has been turned up to 11. Quiet, genius at work here.

@@sergey_engel There's a very creepy clip of Ed in a suit doing a word-perfect mime of a recorded comedy routine, complete with laughing audience, in a sad, empty room, filmed with alienating 'King of Comedy'-type camera angles. It's very strange.
