Honestly, it really depends. I've debated going full time into a overland/van combo and working remotely (particularly with the possibility of something like Starlink soon) and this would be nice for that. Particularly since the damn thing has enough storage to carry all the backpacking gear and stuff I'd want to use it as a base of operations. That said I'd probably still end up with the smaller Earthroamer if I didn't decide to do it myself. I'm a bit anal about what I want so unless it was fully custom I'd probably rather DIY if I had the time.

See but you still go back to your house at the end of a camping trip. This isn't for someone going out into the woods for a few days or a week, this is for someone who's going to live out of this instead of a traditional house or apartment. If you look at it from the perspective of being someone's home, all the fancy amenities seem a lot more reasonable.
@christianludwig10744 жыл бұрын
I see this as a perfect option for actors, models, or other successful “celebrities” that want a beautiful home but are often on the move. Also it’s a great option because they may have to go to some remote places with terrain that would be problematic for a standard RV. I think this is an amazing vehicle for a specific niche of people. I personally would love to have one depending on where you are or aren’t able to go based on its size. Thanks for the video and bravo to Earthroamer that is quite the accomplishment.

I have seen many Airstreams and I have never seen an Airstream as luxurious as this thing. Not even close. The craftmanship is unprecedented. Plus- you can have an awesome 4x4 tow vehicle but you still have to tow the trailer. Good luck with that in 12in snow on a mountain road in backcountry. This vehicle is not for the 1%- this is for the 0.001%. Twelve item questions. 1. Solar panels? 2. UV lights & infrared lights surrounding the full vehicle? 3. EMP protected? 4. Kevlar body? (Armored) 5. Short person drivable? 6. Adjustable seats/ pedals? 7. Two way mirror windows? Or at least no reflective glass. 8. Flat black color or haze gray? 9. Shower door plexiglass instead? 10. Ham radio with good distance comm? 11. Arsenal compartments? 12. Water from air generator, (like they have in operating rooms in the hospital.)? Other than missing those items it's perfect. Maybe I could get a kickback for the suggestions.

Well I mean yes this is camping but tbh this camper is way nicer than my own home so it's like basically moving my home into the wilderness😂

Its not like your over loading the axle on a truck like that. I own a 4x4 International that has a 30,000 lb gvw on it about that size. But its rear axle can hold 25,000 by itself. If you figure a 43 ft goose neck trailer weighs anywhere from 11,000 to 16,000 lbs and those are twice as long with an entire trailer frame underneath. The more axles and tires you have the worse fuel economy and more tire wear and maintenance. Unless you are driving through a desert and need it to have less of a foot print with more floatation on the tires. It does look cool but it makes for more headaches for driving on road long distances.

If you can afford a truck like this ... fuel economy, tire wear, and extra maintenance cost won't be a problem ... (I'm only saying ... 🤣🤣🤣)

@@buildthings79 It's not that the axles will be overloaded, though there is a higher risk of getting bogged. The main issue is that you run the very real risk of centre highing it due to its appalling break-over angle. Mind you, it also has a pretty poor departure angle as well.

Had one of these come in the shop. Had to replace a front wheel bearing assembly and front brakes. Interesting vehicle.

Something I find interesting about all multi million dollar RV's is that people who can afford them rarely if ever go camping.

Ha! The 2wd base chassis with crank windows costs like 80k and by the time it’s converted to 4wd put on 46” tires and the interior is completely converted it would already be worth like 250k before there is anything on the back.

Sorry i didnt see the toilet, i think the best one is the incinerator toilet hassle-free, no more finding anywhere a dump site from time to time, no more carrying heavy cart rolling for disposal of fresh human wastes. Btw i like the most its high ground clearance, whenever a checkup/repair beneath is very comfortable. Maybe for 4-6 people on board such rv needs extra dometic ref. Thanks a lot. 😁 👍

1 mile to the gallon might seem problematic to some off-roaders but remember that you get a wholesome 2 miles to the gallon on the highway, yee haaw!!

Seems like it is mostly for going down logging roads and such. Which does tend to cost more money. You could take a $40k SUV down a logging road but not a $15k car. This is essentially the RV equivalence in price difference. You definitely could not go down a logging road in a normal RV. The fact that you can easily camp on forest roads in winter with this is impressive. The engine-off diesel powered coolant heating alone is worth around $80k if you were capable of installing it yourself.

I really appreciate your time taken to produce this video of such a thought provoking vehicle. My unanswered questions would concern the windows; what they are made of, how they articulate and how are they covered for privacy. Maybe I want to sleep in or walk around naked. Overpriced for sure, but what fun to see what can be done.
