Very interesting, a couple ideas to look at is using the climate battery under the whole structure to take advantage of annualized geosolar gain, that would allow you to remove the pipes that remove the summer air, thats always been a part of earthships i didnt like, that yield was just wasted by being expelled when it could be put underground, ideally in an insulated cell with gravel or sand something with a high heat capacity to store it for winter. The sauna is great, i liked the sauna in the living greenhouse at Central Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute iin colorado, maybe that could be worked into a larger greenhouse that could also have the annualized geosolar tubes like "Citrus in the Snow" has in Nebraska. Thats another failing of earthships, i have found is the greenhouse doesnt come close to growing enough food. Of course the climate necessitates those greenhouse cells that process grey and blackwater in winter, but it would be nice to have an extra greenhouse either seperate of in the same area to grow citrus, pomegranates, etc. to enjoy in the winter I love the kachel style oven you envision, and sending the heat all through via those air pipes, the jean pain area is an interesting idea as well, I wonder if the Sol Viva method of having some chickens inside as well would be possible? Those were some of the ideas I had when viewing it compared to ideas I've been bouncing around in my head for something for that climate area. Cant wait to see the finished course.

@@AloshaLynov You could try this style using aircrete and natural stone.... and if you look at their floor plans you could actually build it in phases starting with the dome....then slowly ad the stone walls...then the roof....then the glass or poly greenhouse living area. Facing south would maximize passive solar gain heating the back walls made of aircrete plus stone. Which I am sure there is plenty in the area you are at. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2aWnmSqfqigkNk

Regarding your EPDM liner, I would consider the problem of it relying on bonding adhesive at all flashings and seams. The roof seems like an area worthy of significance and savings on materials will be under appreciated in the event of failure. A reinforced non-sacrificial liquid applied single ply like a high solids silicone might be a better fit though it's not likely to be less expensive.

Cob plaster will stop any off gassing of tyres and block light. Use flat panelled thickly insulated (styrofoam) corrugated steel roof. Only drawback is cost, but it doesn't need roof structure, awesome to collect water, easy to fix lighting into (before laying it), very sturdy, good for reflecting light further inside and easy to replace. For cooling tubes use plastic pipes, not corrugated with smooth bends, sloping away from interior to stop build up of any muck.

I'm so upset I missed out on the special pricing, damn, because this would have been my Christmas gift to myself! Any chance there will be a price reduction or sale in the future? I left my spouse at the beginning of this scamdemic and have been learning everything I can regarding alternative, eco healthy building practices. I come from a Doukhobor background, actually. Tolstoy helped my family leave Russia many years ago. Although I grew up with grandparents who lived the old ways of Russian ancestors, we were still hooked up to the grid, unfortunately. But everything else we did was earned with sweat and blood. A trip to the grocery store was extremely RARE. Still looking for my little chunk of land to build my beautiful, healthy home on. In the meantime, learning everything I can independently. Have been following you both for a while now and love everything you both do, including philosophical discussions on how emotionally unhealthy we all are due to societal conditioning. The grow zones are shifting north. I got rid of the tires for my above ground earthship rectangular in shape, using local limestone instead. Just using a mono sloped roof for passive solar. I am building a masonry stove/heater/oven too. It will have two warming benches. Under floor and foundation insulation is a must. I will be using rockwool comfort board insulation with masonry veneer. I got lucky and am putting it on bedrock. I have a flowing artisan well so maybe able to make a water chest. I don't have the time I would like so building it in 3 sections each 32x24 foot. The 2 sections after middle will be bedrooms and a bath room. I have out house on property already. I start next week on building it.

Hi Eli I would like to ask you the foundation do you insulate under it or just on the outside from top to bottom let’s say one board down so the cold does not travel. How cold does it get where u r building. ?

I am also interested that you are building two masonry couches. I hear there is a limitation to horizontal travel of chimney air. Can we have a quick call on what’s app +7 968 6186186
@eliinthewolverinestate67292 жыл бұрын
@@AloshaLynov The foundation is insulated both sides and not on bottom. It can be insulated under the foundation. Codes have changed so you can use rockwool or foam board insulation under foundation. I am not insulating under foundation because of 3 foot wide dolostone foundation. I have 24" thick walls 8 inch concrete block 6 inches of rockwool batons and board on building plans. Haven't gotten insulation or veneer on block yet. 2 inch air gap and 8-12 inch limestone veneer. I had to add clean out end of warming benches. As long as you have upward sloop the smoke will follow. It needs to have rocket stove type combustion chamber. I ordered my stove/heater plans from Walkerstoves. Inspector said to add clean out at end of benches. By code they consider masonry stove or heater an appliance. Frost line can go deep as 7 feet, but code 4 feet unless in certain sands. Soil temp at 4 feet is 48*F. Average Jan low is 7.9 F but get -32 F on a cold day. Usually a 6 foot berm of snow comes off roof in winter. Almost up to windows on north wall. Code says need window to outside for a bedroom for egres in case of fire. Do keep in mind it's 2 masonry heaters and a masonry stove/oven. The warming benches go into bedrooms east and west. They do not return and have their own chimneys at corners of building. I start little fire at clean out to start draw up chimney like a Russian stove. My floor is vapor barrier, limestone fines compacted, rockwool insulation, then shallow concrete with large thick tile over it for thermal mass. I will add better thermal break on next 2 sections between the ground and floor it's worth the price. Need to build a root cellar up there asap. Decided on arched roof for root cellar. Looking for silo panels to use as forms for limestone masonry roof. Like Mr. Chickadee's video hobbit style roof part 4. Property is 6.5 hours north of where I currently live and off grid. It don't get hot enough to have any concerns of cooling the building. Domes are great until you get expanding ice between them. I thought about a clam shell rounded roof. But cost and labor. Lots of quarries up there, so masonry materials are local and cheap. 2800$ usd get me 40 tons of 8-12 inch limestone rip rap delivered.

I have some questions and ideas- How many bedrooms? Where are the bedrooms? What are there sizes? Where are you storing the the vehicles? They need to be kept warm so liquids do not freeze in the vehicles? Need an extra large wood storage. It should be inside may be inside the heated garage? So if your snow bond you still have access to dry wood.Where are the the mechanical and laundry rooms? You could use the heat from the dryer as another heating source. It could be pumped into your heating tubes. Besides fish are you going to have chickens in one of the growing areas? Do you have a chicken coop, and where will they be kept? Where are the solar panels? How do you keep panels clean from snow and ice? Could they be inside the dome or tunnels protected from the elements? Can you cook or bake food in this Russian oven? Do you have a second toilet in a half bathroom? It could be a composting toilet and add to your composting pit. Thank you look forward to seeing more.

You may want to consider spending the extra money to use extra large or any size diameter PVC plastic irrigation water pipes, instead of metallic galvanized air ventilation pipes for bringing outside air inside a biotech home and /or, for circulating air inside the walls, but not hot air as hot air could cause the PVC plastic to off-gas toxic fumes and / or, melt or crack; metallic surfaces destroy beneficial negative ions in the air, and may contribute to unwanted, detrimental positive ions in the indoor air. As the engineered air flow of indoor air is sucked inside of biotech homes through PVC plastic water irrigation pipes used as air ventilation pipes from the outside, beneficial negative ion oxygen atoms are produced as the outside air passes over the inner surface of the inside circumference of PVC plastic pipes. A satisfactory amount of negative ions in indoor air provides optimal conditions for efficient, healthy cellular respiration and ATP / ADP energy production / utilization within the mitochondria of brain cells, nerve cells, muscle cells, organ cells, etc. Typically, ocean surf on beaches produce an average of 2,000 negative ions per cubic centimeter of air which is adequate for healthy cellular respiration and ATP / ADP energy production / utilization, but optimal cellular health and mood can be achieved with an exponential increase of negative ions, as high as 500,000 per cubic centimeter of air near large waterfalls. As one travels away from the ocean surf or waterfall, the negative ion level in the air can quickly decrease as more and more distance increases from the source of moving water (ocean surf or waterfall). Sources of naturally occurring negative ions are rainfall, water falls, ocean surf, creeks, and riverbanks. . Around freeway traffic in urban concrete jungles of urban cities, the negative ion levels can be as low as only 100 or fewer negative ions per cubic centimeter of air, but for sufficient cellular respiration and ADP / ATP cellular energy production / utilization, and an acceptable mood / state of mind, most humans and animals require between 1,000 (minimum) and 500,000 negative ions per cubic centimeter of air. Very large waterfalls can produce up to 500,000 negative ions per cubic centimeter of air. Beware of electrically / electronically powered negative ion generator machines / devices, as such machines / devices produce ozone as a byproduct which damages / destroys mucous membranes in the lungs, mouth, nasal passages, and on the surface of the eyes. PVC plastic actually produces negative ions safely without producing ozone. A Japanese company has created a machine factory that produces PVC thread to make beneficial negative ion clothing (Teviron and now, Neoron negative ion clothing material). Things that destroy beneficial negative ions include metallic surfaces, high voltage electric fields, electro-magnetic fields from alternating current electrical motors, appliances, power tools, and direct current electrical motors, air pollution from fossil fuel vehicle exhaust, burning of coal, fire smoke, etc.
