I've been following the Earthship movement since I first learned of them 10 years ago. Now seeing the water shortages in Cali and everywhere south pretty much, these make more sense to me that any conventional build. It is the way of the future for sure.

It doesn't sound like gobbledygook, it's pretty straight forward so far. Love the channel so far keep the videos coming, they've been incredibly helpful.

I’d love to do this in Tulsa , OK area. I have 27 acres and no building code since I own 20+ acres as a single family. I’m excited to see the end product and hear final costs.

Maybe you should consider a "mini" for your 1st build, and later on build a house this size. I want to build a "mini" this year. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpzafYSLh9iSjMk

I would love to see some of these ideas put to use in housing that we already have. Many of us don't have the money to invest in a home if this sort Even if we love the concept! Some of us are just stuck where we are. How many little houses are there out there that could use a greenhouse on the front to contribute to the thermal effect. Could this be done on front of a mobile home? Surely someone out there has ideas and suggestions. I would live in an earthship if I could. Just don't see it ever happening. Getting too old to do that kind of labor!

THANK YOU for sharing!! We live in MI with high water table, heavy moisture in the air & low sun light winters. Interested in learning & watching, thinking how to make this work in our area.

Can’t wait to see the video on which is better; pounding tyres by hand or using a pneumatic rammer.

I'm surprised no one has improvised a tyre pounding machine. Would make it hell more easy!

60-70 people!! I wish!
@TheOffGridGuru2 жыл бұрын
Yes 500 tires including the retaining wall. But the house itself was only about 300 tires. You could easily get that work done with that many people. But the job sit would be pretty cramped. Haha

@@TheOffGridGuru there were 74 people I believe in 2016 near Toronto where Earthship was build for one native family and I had a chance to participate.

Why did the recycling center close? Isn't there a way to still capture the waste stream of bottles, cans, and glass? Is this a sign of the times when recycle center can't' make it?

@@Jh-yi8gc What makes them “not off grid”?
@Jh-yi8gc4 ай бұрын
@@TheOffGridGuru they need supplemental energy to cool their home, so they aren't totally off grid, I also believe they're connected to the water utility as well. That's nearly like a regular home.
@TheOffGridGuru4 ай бұрын
@@Jh-yi8gc I don't know of any properly built passive solar buildings (regardless of design) which require supplementary cooling systems. Cooling systems can be passive as well. However if they are "active" = requiring power, you could easily run them during the day using excess power from your Solar system. As for being connected to municipal water (as opposed to rain water harvesting or well) I do not know the regulations in their area - but often times if you are within the service area of a water company you may be forced to connect to their services. Are you planning to build?

Hey all earth ship builders, and dwellers!!! This is my first comment ever so forgive me if I Ramble on. I’m reaching out for help, suggestions, resources, and/or ideas! I am super inspired to build my own earth ship, and feel I’ve found my purpose in life through this. I live in New Hampshire, and I’m curious if anyone could give me and direction as to where I can learn more, volunteering to learn more, funding, rules and regulations in my state, I would love any help anyone can provide! Thank you all in advance! 🌎

how much does it cost to build a house like this? i havent been ale to find a price range,, and please dont say do it your self i am not able to do that as i am disabled and no longer able to do all that manual labor any longer
@UltimateAnarchy3 жыл бұрын
These particular Taos-area Earthships range from about a quarter-million to over a million dollars each. They are NOT inexpensive and require a tremendous amount of labor. They also take years to build unless you have 50 friends to help you out or can afford to pay a dozen people to do it for you.
