the instrumental at 2:10 would sound great with neve preamps. it would be total 1970s.

I love the earthworks stuff in general. They just sound clean, they're about as natural as they come and in the context of the track you made I think a little more grit would've done your kit just a hair better. On piano and guitar they're like absolute butter, I was surprised how well they handled vocals too

Hi Alex. Very Nice Review. What is on your Snare Drum. Hard to see close. Looks and sounds like a Tea Towel but fits the head? Sounds Lovely. Cheeers Preston
@alecbrits4 жыл бұрын
Hi Preston, thanks! It’s an old shirt I had that I had sewn around a 13’ drum head hoop. Works like a charm.

Dear Alec, how would you see an M30 to capture an 18 inch bass drum? I'm using a ribbon coupled with a d112 at the moment, but I miss the whole sonic picture of the bass drum. Thanks!
@alecbrits3 жыл бұрын
I’ve not used the M30 personally. :) I would imagine it to be really accurate, provided the room that the kick is recorded in is well treated. Also, try to use Auto Align with your current setup and see if that helps the overall image of the kick drum.

Lovely review, thank you for taking the time to create it. I am wondering about the sr25 or the sr20 for acoustic guitar. Thoughts?
@alecbrits3 жыл бұрын
I think the earthworks are solid, but I would recommend the Josephson E22 over them for acoustic guitars. :)

I wonder would it be a bad idea to add their kick pad to the bass and line level pads to everything else? What about adding a 3rd overhead or one for the hats? I feel like this set should be 8 mics not 7.
@alecbrits3 жыл бұрын
I do think that pads across the whole set would be great. :) I think it’s probably a cost thing. Great set though.

This is just the video I was searching for! Amazing content. Have by any chance used the dm20 on anything other than drum shells? I want to hear that Beyer on kick with the pad!
@alecbrits4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, tried it on horns, amps and bass. It works! Not always my first choice, but when you need it clean and mean, that’s the mic for the job. :)

Nice review! How about those Barefoot monitors?? Can you do a review on those?
@alecbrits4 жыл бұрын
Sure thing! It’s quite hard to do that I think, I like people to hear the gear in action. You have any suggestions to make that work? Or would you like a straight up chat and opinion kind of review? :) Thanks again, Alec
@musicmanray14 жыл бұрын
@@alecbrits That is true, probably impossible to give true listen like that especially given how different rooms can sound. There's a chan on youtube that compares monitors I think they set up a stereo pair of mics and give frequency responses of the speakers. Helps to have that point of reference I guess. kzbin.info.

what mic clip did you use to fit the dm20?

The DM20 ship with their own clips. :)
