Hello Tim, nice video series. I'm currently doing my IRR also and noticed that you flew the ILS down to 200 feet. I was under the impression the absolute minimum for an IRR pilot is 500ft and it's the system minimum that is 200ft but you need a full IR for this?

+Andrew Tottey You're right! 600' for non-precision and 500' for precision. This was flown down to 200' for training purposes (and I'd advise going down to ILS minima when purely doing practice in VMC). BUT it is not legal to fly to ILS minima (i.e. lower than 500') under IMC.

Thanks, the localiser and GS don't half get sensitive at that distance. Flew the ILS into Coventry this weekend. Was a great experience.

Sebastian Schledermann so the IR(R) is a UK only rating. It can be applied to an EASA license but it's only valid in UK airspace :-)

IR(R) is IMC rating - there was some fuss related to EASA regulations, as CAA can issue IR(R) (which is UK only) on Part-FCL licences issued by other EASA Member States. Something like 'We don't have IMC ratings here, let's call it something we have...'
