Easier way to change the impeller, raw water pump

I have replaced hundreds on Bravo style impellers old style plastic housing and the new style brass. They are all a pain in the ass. With the hoses going straight out the back on some boats like this one with cool fuel it’s next to impossible to get your hand behind the pump to slip the hoses on. Add it to a small cruiser with no room in front of the engine and it’s even tougher then add twins on a narrow beam cruiser you earn your money.

Just saw this video. Very informative and I will be pursuing this option. I would also like to install the quick disconnect in the raw water supply hose. Can you tell me where I can get one?

Could drill out and use a nut and bolt. I’m about to do this job on a 2003 mercruiser and it doesn’t have the fuel filter in that spot, that’s where my fuel pump is.

If you just grind off the Tab on the bracket that catch's behind the Harmonic balancer the problem is solved.

I’ve noticed on the newer ones they finally did away with that tab which your right made it even harder.
