Great video! Just put a trolling motor on my kayak a few years ago. Everyone please be safe on the water. You can get in to some dangerous situations on the water.

I have this same canoe. Just sit on the front seat but backwards. It’s a double ended canoe

Cory I have experience with that set up . The motor tilt is in lock position , get a length of paracord to tie the lock lever back to the shaft in the case you hit something hard it won’t break your mount or maybe the tilt lock , fix a knot that you can pull the tag end to release it , add another battery for weight distribution and in the case you may run the battery down you will have one to get back home , looking good and I would like to see ya wearing your life vest

Excellent video. I love how thorough you were in covering all details. Can you also include a link for the lead extensions for the trolling motor?

Having the weight of the battery up front will also help in windy conditions. Nice video. Reminds me of Thompson Lake/Horn Lake area.

Yep - makes me not want to purchase a lithium battery now. Although a 10 lb lithium battery is nice for moving around.

Corey, do you think you need some sort of safety line from your motor mount to your canoe, in case your mount gets jarred loose?
@RelentlessSportsman Жыл бұрын
I've taken it out 4-5 times now and haven't had the need for that. I suppose it wouldn't hurt. Before heading out, I make sure the C clamps are tightened firmly.

Awesome video bro! Thanks for the idea, gonna do this to my canoe, I already have the Minnesota 55!

You can also drill four holes and use a couple of bolts to secure the 2x4 to the canoe, and you don't have to mess with C clamps.

Wow, great idea! Awesome setup. Would this be advisable to do with a Pelican polyethylene canoe? It seems pretty solid on that top edge, but still plastic. Not sure if I can get the c clamps to hold on as securely as with this metal canoe.

Did you have annoying steering issues with a rear setup? I am switching to a bow mounted one since it’ll track better for my Bote zeppelin kayak.

What kind of battery would you recommend me use with your set up for a dolphin sit in kayak?
@pob24574 ай бұрын
depends on your needs, how long you're out, boat, weight, loading. I have 3x30AH LIPO4 batteries in case like that, with 30lb thrust minkota will push my 16ft canoe all day. Probably get couple hours at max speed. You can get 30AH LIPO4 battery for $150(i got 2 on sale for $115 each) - these only weigh 10lbs each and are about 4inx8inx8in. Experiment, have fun, really depends on you, boat, load etc.

Get a throttle extension and either enjoy the sufferfest kneeling in the middle or enjoy the high center of gravity with a camp chair. Lithium ftw.

The ideal depth for a canoe is barely below the surface just far enough to avoid cavitation.

It’s happened to me a couple times and I have quick releases on my motor from the battery 🔋 so I take the leads and tase the bear 🐻 they don’t want any part of that and haul ass !

Maybe consider putting the battery at the front of the canoe with an extension wire going back to the motor, that might even the weight a little better also. Just an observation. Looks really good! 👍
