Easiest Exhaust Mod to make Horsepower on the BMW G80 M3 and G82 M4

Here at Precision Sport Industries we have been getting a ton of calls regarding our new PSI G80 G82 midpipe. One of the main questions that we have been asked is "Does the midpipe add any horsepower?". With the G8x ECU currently being locked from proper tuning, there are only a handful of ways to bump up the power numbers out of the S58. The midpipe modifications sound amazing. If you run the car in comfort mode with the valves closed will it still be quiet enough to not wake the neighbours?

Cold start sounds little too loud, but on normal revs its very quet with valves closed stock muffle, psi midpipe

7:10 "... I mean, if you start from the beginning, it's going to take a little bit longer..." How about 2hrs? And the fact that PSI sends the pipe in two sections, requiring an additional set of couplers and articulation of the whole system while trying to install it. I did this job today, practically by myself on a lift, and yes, it took 2hrs. Some of the time consuming aspects of this installation was assembling the pipe prior to installation to mark where the cut was going to take place to compare it with the direction on this video (or maybe was the other one) where they say to cut the OEM pipe at "middle dimple". Both where off by about an inch, so I cut in the middle of the two. Then you have the fitment. Very tight and very cumbersome to manhandle the pipe and tighten the bolts while ensuring proper fitment with a piping system that is moving in the front, middle and back (so it does not rub against heat shields and cross member). Cutting it by hand took me about 10-15min. Good news, though... The sound is just perfect for what I was looking for; louder than stock, but not HOA-eviction-notice loud :D

Call me crazy, but if at all feasible, all exhaust pipes should have a rifleling or twist from beginning to end to expedite the exit of fumes and thus creating more horsepower.

I am looking to get this on my bmw g82 m4. It is a lease though do you think i will have problems reversing it to stock since this midpipe requires cutting?

No, it’s cut on the factory Dimples and is completely reversible using oem clamps. The purpose of the dimples is to repair a muffler later in the cars life since bmw doesn’t sell the whole exhaust as one piece.

Alot of different factors go into pricing. Comes down to labor costs, material costs and it is made all in house here at PSI

@@PrecisionSportIndustries If you price it at $500-600 you will sell more compared to $1700. Most people are doing the exact mod by going to their local shop paying $200-500.

@@northzider Not possible based on the 304 material and labor to make it. It’s plug and play and reversible, made with the highest quality SS and that’s the point. Local muffler shops are not making an x-pipe either.

I like some of your videos, until you start pushing a product and trying to convince the viewers that the cost of that midpipe is justified by doing dyno runs. Is just wrong. There is absolutely nothing that can justify that $1,700 price. For the love of God not even a custom titanium xpipe would cost that much.

@@PrecisionSportIndustries Go check the bimmerpost forums and you'll see folks are paying ~$300 with x/h pipes. Sure yours looks pretty, but who looks under the car anyways. It's not even fully bolt on, you still need another couple of hundred to cut the old exhaust out. You'll sell more at a lower cost and make more money rather than selling it high where they'll be a few buyers. More folks will plunge to take the risk to try it at a lower cost. This is customer feedback, you should run with it rather than resisting.
