Easiest Homespun Afghan Ever Pattern: creativegrandm...
This amazing design is two different style of afghans using one pattern. First style is the Super Easy version with a lacy look no border and no strips, then you have a fancy version where you weave chain strips through the open work rows and add a border all using the same basic afghan background.
Yarn is available at www.acmoore.com or visit your local AC Moore Store. #ACMOORE @ACMOORE
Lion Brand Homespun (5) Bulky weight yarn was used.

I've seen several projects using this same technique and I love each one. And there's so much opportunity for variety. For this homespun, I think it might be a lot easier to work the first row using foundation stitches instead of trying to work into a foundation chain.

Thank you so much for this pattern and tutorial. So many people love Homespun but you never see any tutorials for it because most people believe it is impossible to crochet with. It isn't at all you just have to get used to it and you have to have the right patterns. This pattern suits it well and is beautiful. Homespun is one of my favorite yarns to use and I can't wait to make this one! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Love this Glenda. I’ve seen so many people who crochet moaning about homespun yarn in the past...saying it’s hard to work with, hard to see the stitches and hard to frog. I however, LOVE this type of yarn and haven’t had any of the problems that others people go on about. People can just their stitches if they struggle. My favourite cardigan is homespun yarn and it’s so cozy. X

APrimbun Same here. I think the yarn is worthy or a bit of patience. I’m in the UK so don’t get the chance to use it as much as I want to. Otherwise I would buy lots in.

@@Twinkley1981 Exactly. And it's not as though you have to do intricate patterns. The yarn itself is so pretty that the simplest stitches look the best. I will admit, however, that it's a beast to frog. So you just go a little slower and make sure you don't need to frog. It "keeps you honest." 🙂

Love, love , love me some Homespun!!! I made a blanket for my full size bed earlier this year, but it's been too warm for it as of yet, so now that we're finally getting some fall like temps here in Texas, I can use it!! Also working on a cocoon shrug in the same color way as my blanket (First Blush, it's in cake form), which is a Homespun that actually self stripes!! Just need to finish up the shrug now. My daughter was wanting a blanket like mine, but I think I'll try this one for her, it's sooooooooo pretty with the strips running through it and the plain background. Thanks for this pattern and tutorial Glenda, your greatness knows no bounds!!!

Thank you, Glenda. I was making an afghan ages ago that was supposed to have chains woven through. The instructions were... lacking. I didn't know how many chains to get the right length, didn't understand how I was to anchor them. I ended up with a lovely, plain white mesh afghan which is actually nice in summer when you just want a little something. Now, having watched this, I could go back and do the weaving...or I could just make another afghan. Hmm. Decisions, decisions.🙂

Hello, I had 10 skeins of Homespun in the color Corinthian and made this blanket. For my strips I am using Homespun in the color Golden as I could not find anything else that might compliment the Corinthian as that is a dark autumn like pallet. My strip of 135 chains is too short for my blanket and I used the same starting chain of 125 as you did. I need at least 150 chains to go across. Is it because of my tension is looser than yours?
