Robbie, my sister had ravens take over her bird bath. She even found animal parts in it. Ravens like to dip their food in water. Well all the other birds disappeared not only from the big bird bath but both of her yards. She came up with a brilliant idea. She some took dog/cattle fencing and fashioned a huge cage cube that went over the entire bird bath about a foot all around the bath and above and then to the ground. It took a couple of days, but the little birds came back and figured out they could get in and be protected from the ravens. The woodpeckers and squirrels wanted in and kept eyeing the bath, so my sis cut some larger holes for them and it worked. Now every critter can get in except the ginormous ravens. And the ravens have moved on. Her birds and other depend on the water she provides and he has provided quite the sanctuary for them all. We live in Northern California an most of the year it’s a hot and dry climate here. So maybe that’s something to try even to keep oriels or any other dominating birds out. But of course keep your new baths for them. I suppose even chicken wire would work and make holes large enough for the smaller birds the baths just for small birds. I love this new tray idea, it’s brilliant! Thank you for all your great ideas Robbie! 👍🏻♥️

That is so amazing, I just found a Rubbermaid pan at goodwill for .99 cents I can use it as bird bath and place it on my table but I have to string the solar out of the table as the shades will cover it, but anyways that’s a clever idea! Thanks Robbie you’re awesome! 👍👍♥️😊👩🌾 I can use the jello cups 🥰😊👍

I’m really impressed on how much water that solar panel/motor combo can move! The problem with water in Central Texas is that it get real hot real fast and you are constantly fighting algae.

I have several water features here in my yard in Tucson Arizona. One is an over 5 ft tall copper fountain shaped like a Yucca plant. The water comes out of the very top of the blossom spike in the center. Hummingbirds fight over it all day! This after noon, when I went out to feed the gold fish in the pond, there was a Great Horned Owl standing on the top of the copper fountain!

I’ve made a few of your fountains and the birds just love the bubblers! I’m new to feeding the birds and the hummers, we started out with one female in June and now we’re up to two males and five females. I have 4 feeders for them that are more than 30 feet away from each other and have hanging baskets in between each of them. I have a few of them that are fighting over the feeders, one male will sit on the top of one feeder and chase everyone else away from it. Then there’s a female that sits in a nearby tree that has a view of all the feeders and she guards all of them. I make 16 cups of fresh nectar every 3 days and keep a little in the fridge in case one starts running out early. I keep them full, there’s more than enough for everyone but they’re not having any parts of sharing. I have no idea what to do to stop them from being so territorial and aggressive, I’d love any ideas you might have.

I love watching your videos! I've been putting up hummingbird feeders and I have some hummingbirds now. I also have feeders for the other birds. I've been thinking about putting in a fountain, but it's been very cool and rainy this year. I don't think they'd like it. Oh, I even made the pretty cover on a couple of the feeders to protect them from the heat and rain, like in your video. I'm thinking about putting a cover over the regular bird feeders. Anyway, I love your videos. Thank you for making them.

Fabulous. I see you have a shade over your hummingbird feeders. How did you do that? My feeders get so hot that I have to change them out daily. The liquid gets too hot.
@janeknight5070 Жыл бұрын
I tried this none of the hummingbirds or oriole’s came yet. The only tray I had at the moment was an aluminum pan. Maybe they don’t like it or it’s not good for them. Maybe it’s too close to the feeder .Anyway tomorrow I’m going to get something like what u had. I only get sun on my balcony from 3:30 to 5:30 I need another cord for the power bank. Which I will order from you link ty Robbie.

Oh no! Not another great idea!!!! I now have 5 fountains based on Robbie's ideas but the only birds interested are the black birds and they prefer the simple round solar disc set in a 2" deep dish. But I love the bubblers. They sound so great in the yard.

You are so inventive!!! We do not buy meat at the store, so no trays for me. I made my birdbaths with glass pie plates and stones in. Used to get them for pennies at the thrift store. Easy to clean. My soldering iron came today! Now I'm waiting for the solar fountain and then I can set up a new one😊 I just cleaned the round one I got from my daughter, I put clear nail polish on half the solar pads, to see it it stays clear. Do you put anything on your panels so they don't dull?

I would love to make this, but though I love birds, I love hummers the most. As well as sweet little sparrows. If I saw an oriole, or any other bird being mean to them, I'd have a hissy. Is there any fountain that are perfect for hummers but noone else? I want to make a little bee watering station, but am afraid birds would ruin it for the bees.

I had my second hummingbird of the year stop by... and a sparrow tried to jump on it 😮 noooo! 😢 not sure if ill see one again i went ahead and freshened up my feeders ❤
