@MimzyandCompany
@MimzyandCompany 2 жыл бұрын
The length of your shade should simply be the length of your window. When your shade is down it will be flat. It'll only have pleats when the shade is drawn up. If you want pleats when the shade is down then that is called a hobbled roman shade and that's totally different. In that case you'd need double the length of your window in fabric.

@MimzyandCompany
@MimzyandCompany 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly the same. You just have to attach to the face fabric. So you’ll see the stitching when your shade is all the way down. When the shade is up the stitching is hidden because it’s in the folds. When sewing just try to pick only a couple threads of the fabric each stitch. And only do 3 stitches…that’ll be plenty. Sheer linen shades will be beautiful! I’d love to see your result! Betty Dunbar you put the strings through “o” rings that are sewn on. Then you thread the lift cord through them and tie it to the bottom O ring only. Does that makes sense? yes. it's also called hem tape. you can buy it at any fabric store or Walmart. It works great, you just have to use high heat to get it to bond when you're heating through a couple layers of fabric.

Did you stitch rings through just lining or both lining & fabric?
@MimzyandCompany
@MimzyandCompany 3 жыл бұрын
both. but I try to only pick up a couple threads of the face fabric. Although you can only see the stitches when the shade is down.

Question. I have a window that is 70 w x 34 L. Can I make a shade that wide????
@MimzyandCompany
@MimzyandCompany 4 жыл бұрын
yes. you'll be sewing a lot of rings...40 or more. You may want to use ring tape so you don't have do all that hand sewing of rings. I've made them wider for a very large screened patio/lanai. You can railroad your fabric if there's no pattern, or you'll have to put a full width down the center and split a width for the outsides.

I am confused. I thought a relaxed roman shade didn't have a weight bar at the bottom. I would think without it you would get the 'smile'. Am I wrong in thinking that?

How do you clean the shade?
@MimzyandCompany
@MimzyandCompany 4 жыл бұрын
I vacuum mine with my brush attachment. I have seen romans that are velcro-ed to the mounting board so they can be removed and cleaned, but you'd have to prewash everything. That seems like a lot of trouble to take it down, unstring etc. the vacuum does the trick for me.

Not sure what you mean by cord stop. Are you talking about the cleat on the wall that holds the cord or are you talking about the lift cord that has the built-in beads to hold the cord?
