I have 4 Standard Poodles. I'll confirm, they are amazing dogs--incredibly smart, very agile, and surprisingly athletic. If you work with them at all, they learn anything and everything you teach them. My spouse and I have had Poodles for the entire 28 years we have been together, mostly standards, with a couple miniatures. The first four lived between 12 and 15 years (standards) and the miniatures lived between 17 and 19 years of age. Our current "Pack" range between 1 year and 11 years. The most apt description I've ever heard of the breed... poodles are half brain surgeon, half rodeo clown. For best results, they need exercise--daily. We have have 4 acres of land in the city and 10 acres on the lake. We make sure they run, play and explore 4 times a day. They like to boat, they play in the lake, they love to hike, they like car rides, they also love to lounge when not outside. The oldest one gets around very well, and the puppy should be in agility training. Despite the nearly $400 a month grooming bill (4 X $80), I wouldn't consider a different breed. We have ours cut very short with no pom poms, as that is more workable for the hills and woods of NW Arkansas.

You left off the most intelligent breed, the Malinois. Look them up. I did, after ACCIDENTALLY training one to be a service dog.

Everyone rolled their eyes at me when I said I'm getting an Akita. Saying, "Not for first time dog owners." or "They are violent and will turn on you." Well, with lots of patients and time, along with a stronger will than my dogs, he does what I want. He does at times try to test me, but he is the best dog in the world.

I own an Australian cattle dog...which is now coming up to be eight weeks of age. To me they are really intelligent, she is already learning to sit and is potty training. I couldn’t ask for a better companion. Who else has an ACD?

Red Heelers if you're up to throwing toys for 10 hours a day or you have cattle. They are smart yes, abd incredibly high energy & they can jump like a kangaroo.

No one but a marathon runner or farmer should have a Blue Heeler, the ones you showed are incorrectly called an Australian cattle dog.
