Please be careful when adopting a Shiba Inu! The breed is fantastic, but NOT for beginners. You are adopting a wolf in small body. I speak from experience as I have been the proud companion of a Shiba for 12 years. Yes, companion, not owner. Shiba's are much more like cats than like other dogs.
@AnimalWised5 жыл бұрын
Very true! No dog on our list is one which doesn't need proper socialization, care, education and attention, bu the Shiba may need a little more than others.

I just said the same thing. Same with the Basenji. They are VERY independent.
@lindabroer89955 жыл бұрын
Lioness006 agreed. I’ve never known a Basenji though so I didn’t want to say anything. Some breeds have a bad rep. With the Shiba I know for a 100% sure that the breed is not for everyone. It’s also not something you can train out of them, no matter how well you socialize them. This is the breed you choose for so you must accept the breed quirks. I hate that the dogs are suffering because the wrong people buy them, thinking it’s an easy dog. It’s not. Put the effort into them and have the right attitude though and you get the most loyal companion you could ever imagine.
@Lioness0065 жыл бұрын
@@lindabroer8995 Yeah. I've never met a Basenji, but from everything I've read about them, they aren't beginner dogs, probably bc they are such an ancient breed. @@leaschmitt2496 It's really all about the training. I have a lab/GSD/border collie mix that has lived in apartments most of her life (she's 12) and she's very calm considering her breed mix. I take my dog out at least 3 times a day and try to get her out to play at least 2 times a day, and she's still doing wonderfully. She even comes to the library and my counseling appointments with me. Many sites state that Goldens (and labs) can be great apartment dogs and WHY it works. Think about it, most service dogs are labs, goldens, or GSDs and they can live anywhere bc they are trained. I'd say a golden probably needs a good 20-30 minute walk (can be broken up into shorter walks throughout the day) and 30-60 min of play (again, can be broken up into shorter chunks of playtime). ALL dogs need a minimum of 1 hour of walks & play per day to stay healthy in body and mind. If you don't have at least that amount of time to spend with a dog, ANY dog breed, then you shouldn't have a dog. www.my-golden.com/can-golden-retrievers-live-in-apartments/ www.easyretrievertraining.com/retrievers-can-live-in-apartments/ www.pawesome.net/are-golden-retrievers-good-apartment-dogs/

Chihuahuas can be very normal dogs but of course need adequate training. Their small size makes things scary for them so they need to be introduced to the world in a good way. Are beagles good apartment dogs? I am thinking of getting one.
@nalinm33634 жыл бұрын
Nope. Beagles are hounds bred for bird hunting. They need open spaces to run around and they are not quite at all. Only get a beagle if you have a lawn or a yard with a fence. I suggest not getting one.

@@nalinm3363 I do have quite big lawns and parks in my apartments and I am willing to take the beagle out for a couple of times a day to play in the lawns. So I think I can get a beagle.

Isn't rottweiler better? My storm didn't even bark that much, and he don't loose much of hair.

did u really raise a rot in a 2bhk? can u give tips?

Rottweilers are on many insurance company black lists. The few landlords that allow large dogs may have a banned breed list.

I know a Jack Russell and she does NOT agree with this list XD she needs a huge space, huge garden, goes out several times a day and still gets bored!

You definitely don’t want a standard or giant poodle in an apartment. Medium and large dogs need ample running space in a backyard. You also should be near a dog park if you live in an apartment to go walk your furbabies during your lunch break.

I wonder if there is any dog that has the looks of a golden retriever but is not as big as a golden retriever (kinda the size of a jack russel)?
