Instead of a script, you could have added a remote transform to the player character then selected the camera for the remote path. After that just move the remote transform to however high you want it above the player. The advantages of this one less script to worry about, if your character is ever on a round world the camera will follow the rotation of the character as the rotate around the world, and then to manipulate the camera from the character script you only have to go down the children of the character. Thanks for the tutorial and pointing out the orthogonal feature to make the map look better.

This looks good, but seem to be some changes to viewports in Godot4 making this difficult to follow. Any chance of adding some footnotes to address these?
@ryanmims911010 ай бұрын
The only difference is that Viewport is now called SubViewport. All of the value are the same though

I don't know what I am doing wrong here :/ I'm using Godot 4, created Canvas, SubViewportContainer, SubViewport (with transparent background) and a new Camera2D inside of it. In your video that's all and it shows camera view inside of SubViewport. In my project it shows nothing inside of the SubViewport (shows only transparent 200x200 box). Do you know maybe what I did wrong or what else is needed in Godot 4 and 2D game?

How to make the way you show work with a 2D camera and a 2D scene/Node (without 3D)? I succeeded in 3D but not in 2D...😟

No matter with which project I choose, it doesn't show the minimap after adding the code.
