Easiest Way to Clean Drum & Hand Carders

This is a simple overview of how to clean residual fiber out of your drum carder (carding cloth) and hand carders. The right brush cleaner does an excellent job.

The brush cleaner we use is the "Olivia Garden Brush Cleaner" for sale on Amazon for just under $12, which seems like a pretty good deal: amzn.to/2cngkG9
Note that Amazon pricing is strange on this item, as you can also spend over $50 for the same brush cleaner. So make sure you buy the cheaper and right one!

Yes on the drum carder - but the hand carders? If it's not come off on the rolag pass, repeat, the first carding pass will haul anything deep to the surface, and the same backward pass used for the rolag lifts it clear, just drop it on the thing.

@@carolynadams2275 It is a brush used to clean hair brushes...made by Olivia Garden. I got mine from Amazon, but some beauty supply chains also carry them. I just did a search on Amazon and it is still available. Just put in "Olivia Garden brush cleaner" and it should pop right up. BTW, mine has undergone extensive use and is still going strong!

I was hoping to learn how to clean the actual teeth because once I washed the fibre I’ve been carding I was shocked to see how dirty and greasy it was! How about carding some fresh wool soaked in rubbing alcohol. Then use this brush. Would that do it?

I've looked on Amazon for the brush cleaner you use in your video and can't find anything that even resembles what you're using. I think this will be very helpful as I borrowed my friends carder which hasn't been used in 9 years and is full of dirty fiber. Do you know what it's actually called? It looks like Kathleen Kline ordered one so they must be available. I'll also ask her if she remembers what it's called.
