How often do you clean your shower head? In this video I'll show you the easiest and most effective way to clean it!!
From time to time it's important to give your shower head a good cleaning as it can become laced with limescale, calcium buildup and nasty gunk in general.
Here's what to do:
Fill up a small bag with distilled white vinegar, submerge the shower head down into the vinegar filled bag. Next, secure the bag in place with a rubber band. All the shower head to soak in the vinegar for 2 hours. This will give the vinegar time to loosen up and eat away all the mineral buildup.
After the 2 hours are over remove the bag, wash off the shower head and you're done. It should look as good as new!!

You can do a quick-result test first. just spray liberally with a mould clearing product typical in bathrooms, and see if 10 minutes sitting and then rinsing off doesn't do the trick. PS - this is an absolute winner for stainless steel drains. Just coat liberally and 10 minutes later the gunk rinses off, and even the drain pipe can come up looking much better.

A lot of modern shower heads have rubber nozzles on the ends, so you can simply reach up with your bare hand and sort of forcefully rub at it, like you're trying to wipe a stain off something. Do it while the shower is running. The limescale build up in the rubber nozzles will crumble and be expelled by the water. If you let it get as bad as the one in the video of course you'll need to use chemicals, but if you just reach up with your hand every time you take a shower and make a point to give the showerhead a quick wipedown, you'll never have to.

Hold it there for a minute or two. Then while flushing it clean scrub it with the bush. Slow draining sink? I do somewhat the same thing. This time add about a tablespoon of baking soda no need to wait then add about a 1/2 cup of vinegar. Then when it starts to fizzle down add some more vinegar. It's also a good idea to remove all the aerator from your faucets and clean the screens if you ever need to turn the main water supply to the house off for any reason, and when you turn the water back on let it run a minute before putting the aerator back on to get the sediment out, you should notice an improvement in your water pressure .

In my experience, what works even better than vinegar (acetic acid) is citric acid, which is usually available in the canning section at the supermarket. I keep a bag of it in the pantry, and mix up a fresh batch (around 4-5 teaspoons per pint of water, which is a pretty strong solution) whenever something needs cleaning. Using hot water will increase its effectiveness. Unlike vinegar, it has no smell, and works great for cleaning bathroom tile, too. It's safe to use - just don't get it in your eyes, and rinse your hands well afterwards.

Thanks, the Molen head unscrews so no need to keep a baggie like that. Also, CLR does a great job. In addition to the head, the aerators likely need to be demineralized. I did all our faucets and the water pressure was vastly improved. Lastly, most Molen faucets have a proprietary way to remove the aerators, they require a special key. However, sink faucets like this one does not have a key that allows one to remove and clean the aerator. I found out from a neighbor that Molen will send out the kitchen sink faucet head and aerators for bathroom sinks for free!

Easier way - put vinegar in spray bottle, hold a paper towel against the surface of the faucet head, spray the paper towel w the vinegar (it will stick to the head), and leave it be for 10 or 15 minutes and spray it again as it’s drying out.

Also, with the new handheld showerhead, if you want to get it done too you can stick the thing into the same solution without a cap. Need it. Okey-dokey. Bubble bubble. Hee hee

Is there any reward or penalty for using stronger vinegar? It can be purchased at 15%, 30% or 45% acidity versus 5% for normal distilled white vinegar.

Yes, it's faster than 5%. I've done it with 4% successfully, but it's slow

This doesn't always work. CLR does the same thing and even that doesn't work sometimes.

Why didn't you unscrew that aerator and replace it while you were there? You'd be surprised at the pressure you'd get out of that thing.

Better to use Tri Sodium Phosphate sold as TSP. Way faster, less stinky.
