@@ardaricus1566 nylon strings are less effective to bend, even if you do the similar thing as in an electric guitars, you will only get like one step instead of two (from my personal experience)

The way I quit is I realized I was waking up coughing hard every morning and how much it sucked and decided to just be done with it finally. Took a lot of years to get there but I did. And it helps to realize that I’m saving like $600 a year now

It was a revelation for me in fiddle. Someone pointed out to me that bluegrass flat pickers basically just hold the cord and add hammer ones and pull is and I was like wait I can do that too. So I just wrote all the notes of the chords and added passing tones between them and viola solo

systems > willpower. if you want to make a change, craft your environment (house, co-workers, friends, media consumption, etc). stay away from being able to buy them. leave your ID at home if you have to go to a place that has them. easier to not eat junk food if you dont buy it or have it in the house. you can also work on discipline but systems usually will win. path of least resistance :)

I personally memorized where each specific note is on the 5 diatonic positions across the fretboard (where each 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 note is). Then memorized 1st, 3rds and 5ths of chords within a key (and extensions). And combined it while following chord tone rules. This also helps to play any scale if you know the theory because you know where to move a note (for example Harmonic Minor, you just take the 5th note of the major scale up a semitone and use relative minor as tonic).

That was fantastic. Used to play Mostly heavy metal but arthritis made it impossible. My late wife was a concert violist, we had fun just jamming together until she got a severe ear infection in both ears and actually had to have her ear drums removed and replaced with cadaver ear drums 😢. She couldn't hear the notes like before. I miss so much😢. What attracted her to me was the playing and my long hair😂. Still got the hair. So cool seeing young people still shredding!! Im 60. Take a look at the solo from "Losing A Whole Year" by Third Eye Blind (their guitarist at the time, Kevin Cadogan, was a bloody genius). If you ignore the weird tuning and crazy wah, he listerally plays one lick four times, just in different positions on the guitar, depending on which chord he's on. Not like he has a lot to choose from - it's just A, E, B and B again
