Flieger watches in ww2 had movements running at 18.000 bph. So a 'low-beat' 21.600 bph movement is actually smoother than the original...

Looks nice, but $540 for anything containing a Miyota 8 series is way too much.
@ericreither3666Ай бұрын
Exactly. But hey, why nitpick the movement when Laco is paying you $540 for a 14 minute “review?”

Your tastes align so much with mine along with wrist size. I love fliegers too especially affordable ones. Excellent videography as always.

Not bad, but I feel the need to still recommend Dekla here (and thanks to Jody for his review of the brand). For about the same price, you can get a hand-made in Germany flieger, with a swiss movement, blue hands and you can choose if you want auto or hand-wind, if you want old radium or white, etc...all for about the same price as these Lacos. The only thing Dekla doesn't have going for it is the longer wait time since each order is custom made, and the fact that while entirely German, they weren't one of the original producers.

Looks great! Recently picked up a 39mm Aachen Grau on bracelet on sale for just £270, absolutely fantastic at that kind of price, great case finishing. Bracelet isn't brilliant but we all know it belongs on a strap. Pleasantly surprised with the 8 Series inside, winds smooth, hacks, haven't noticed any of the infamous second hand stutter either

I have the basic Augsburg 39, and I think they used a 18mm strap to mimic the proportions of the larger models which were worn over the sleeve. I'd have chosen the Model A in this vid, but that's just me.

Great looking watches. I recently read up on the history of Fliegeruhren and learned that they needed to be at least 45mm for legibility (Laco has made a limited series 55mm replica) and that the pilots usually didn't use the simple Flieger, but chronographs for their calculations when navigating.

I know fliegers are supposed to be large but these wear like a dinner plate - they should produce them in 39mm cases and even 36mm to appeal to those put off by larger sizes
@Bob_Smith192 ай бұрын
They make smaller versions. But they still wear large due to the dial size.

Not sure about the colab aspect for these watches, as it means they have to charge more for it. Laco is already the master of patina style pilot watches, without any colab. These limited edition Laco watches have been 450 euros previously when they are not a colab and sold by Laco, ussualy in 250 pieces of each model. I do have a Laco Aachen olive 39mm with pvd bronze coating from a couple years ago, it's one of my favorite watches. IWC and Stowa tend to have a more refined dressy look, while Laco tend to be more authentic to their roots with being a bit rougher in their style with a bigger more toolish cases. Moving up in price because its a colab and still having the same movement, might be starting to push it a bit however.. At 450 euros they are extremely well QCed stunning watches with a fitting toolish movement, go north of 500 however, and it can start feeling a bit different.

Dave Great video and I love these watches, but if you're so all in on the historical accuracy you should be asking them to use a movement that beats at 18,000 not 28,800. The original watches beat a lot slower.

Sir , I have 6 automatic watches, 5 Seiko or one Invicta, I wear them a lot of biking or cycling, will there be any problem with the movement of the watch?
@JusttheWatchАй бұрын
I'm not an expert in that area, but I've heard that such activities can put added strain on mechanical movements. But I've also heard that modern movements from Seiko and Miyota can handle those vibrations pretty well so it's less of an issue than it used to be.

Hard pass because this model line from Laco is not worth it to begin w/. You’re paying for heritage and nothing else. There’s a saying that a Flieger is a Flieger is a Flieger. And it’s true in almost all aspects. To many other options that look the part that are cheaper. Or for a little more you can get a Dekla and have it built to your spec.

I prefer fleiger watches without the baggage of having been a tool of the Third Reich military. Not all heritage is good heritage.
@edteach3r2 ай бұрын
@@DavidRon Good point. While ditching my Laco Augsburg, Stowa Flieger Classic, Sinn 856 B-Uhr and IWC Big Pilot, I might as well clean my soon-to-be virtuous home by getting rid of my three Hamilton Kaki Mechanicals and Bulova Hack also. No sweat, I can always replace these watches with some fake, ripped-off-design Chinese watches from a morally-superior, peace-loving dynasty. Just kidding, of course, David. I understand your point, which is completely valid; but any watch with a heritage of war comes with baggage for someone’s lived experience.
@DavidRon2 ай бұрын
@@edteach3rWoah. You're clearly one of those "heritage is all that matters" types. Hehe. FWIW, if I cared that much about heritage, I'd keep the Hamilton and Bullova because I'm an American. Not sure what the Sinn (founded in the 1960s) did to get pulled into this except using steel from old submarines maybe.

What is so special about those watches ? This is just an extra money making exercise by this so called " collaboration ". With Squale their made a copy of 50 fathoms. Where is this " collaboration " with very classic Laco watches ? Marketing B.S., thats what it is.
@CESONER2 ай бұрын
Respectfully disagree. He explained quite well exactly where the collaboration lies. What both parties added to the 2 versions and why they cost more than the lesser known companies average offerings and why they cost less than Laco similar models. It’s a great deal, for what it is and is obviously more than some bs marketing. Cheers
@Bob_Smith192 ай бұрын

@bobsmith19 but they didn’t. They chose to do a collaboration with this newer smaller company and employee that same companies design ideas like the black on black. It’s easy to say what LACO could have done, but they didn’t. And these older companies tend to move at a glacial pace with innovation and open-mindedness in design. so sometimes it takes a youngsters vibes to mix it up a bit and come with something fresh. Chill
