Thanks for the idea for the straight edge spacer jigs. That adds a major degree of "quality" to the finished product over freehanding it. I took it a step further and used my center punch and tack hammer to put an exact starting point for each new stroke and then used the bit's edge for where to stop at my bottom guideline.

You’re very welcome, @pikesticker. And thank YOU for that genius piece of advice, so simple but effective. We’ll definitely be doing this going forward. 👍

Wonderful, I thought the cunning use of two pieces of MDF to locate the centre of the router cutter on the centre of each letter was simplicity itself, but I had never thought of it. Thank you so much for sharing. Chris

The simplest solution is often the best solution. Always super satisfying when a jig works this well.

Well done. I did learn from it. Looking to make a house number sign with letters large enough that MAYBE Amazon delivery can actually find and drop our packages to our house, instead of the neighbors.

@capefear3297 really great to hear that you learnt something from our video! Good luck with your sign endeavour… I hope your Amazon driver notices it 😉

@@MakersManual it’s great! People being themselves and sharing these minutes of our lives and teaching others is why i enjoy youtube. And getting to enjoy people’s personalities is an added bonus! There are plenty of monotone instructional videos out there- injecting some personality into a “how to” video makes it that much better.

No where as easy as she claims, Palm routers run 8,000 to 24,000 rpm, minor false move and you have a handsome piece of firewood!
@MakersManual Жыл бұрын
Hi Sullivan’s Papa, it’s certainly not a job you want to rush. With familiarity of a router, the right setup and taking your time, it’s really not so tricky. We were apprehensive at first but as time went on we got more and more confident in the jig. Of course you can still goose it up, but that’s true of every tool and project if you aren’t careful 👍 👍
