Easily Customize Products in WooCommerce | ACF & Elementor Pro

WooCommerce has lots of options, but when it comes to adding in custom information, it's not the best. This is where ACF or Advanced Custom Fields comes to the rescue.
In our example, we want to add a lot of unique information to our car sales website. Let's see how easy it is with ACF.
We'll also be using Elementor Pro to create our custom product loop and display all our custom data.

WHY would you put the manufacturer/brand as a custom taxonomy instead of just another custom field (eg checkbox)?

Best part to know: To access the custom taxonomy created in ACF you need to choose "Woocommerce => Product Terms" from Elementor's Dynamic Fields Panel. I expected it in the "ACF Field" panel to select it there like the other custom fields. Tricky!

Paul, your videos are excellent. But what makes me frustrated is that many plugins change the interface and terms of use, even in a short time. That's not your fault. But it's starting to annoy me. To run a site professionally (even for a hobby it must have all possible ins and outs) you need so many plugins that it is simply no longer affordable for a hobby. Both in money and in time. Also, this movie is already outdated.

Which interface are you referring to? If it's Elementor, you can enable/disable the editor update in the Settings and Features.

I have a question about the custom fields, would be great to hear back from you. I added a custom taxonomy to the product called brand, created a custom field group for the taxonomy to include brand logo. is there a way to display the brand logo directly on the single product page/template? Thanks

The classification generated by ACF only shows the text after the front-end call, for example, you show the brand of the car here, but I want to make it a link, when I click on it, it will open a new page showing all the cars belonging to this brand, do you think this can be achieved? Thank you.

Thanks Paul. Bought AFC Pro a few years back after you tipped us off that they were changing their pricing structure. Think it was half price at $99AUS at that time. Saved a huge amount compared to the new pricing, and a couple of ownership changes. Trouble is that I've not really made much use of ACF, so this updated Tut series will come in mighty handy! Starting to lose the will to live after spending more than a year trying to do this! This tutorial is fantastic at least until 7 mins in when I realise there’s no Product Archive in my Templates folder, and when I create one there’s no option to edit the template. I’ve engaged three developers and spent a lot of time and money on themes but WordPress is not for the faint of heart. And it’s almost impossible for the uninitiated to separate the good advice like yours from the ‘buy yet another plugin’ chancers who proliferate like wildflowers in summertime.

Hello, I am working on a printing shop and would like to provide my customers with an option to upload images where they choose the product. Later I will need to export the order with Wp All Export Plugin which supports ACF. While I can use Wp product add ons to set the upload option, could I also do it with ACF, because I am not sure if I can extract the WP Add on plugin data with Wp All Export Plugin... Thanks

Hi Paul, You have been teaching almost everything regarding WordPress, but I have one particular question to ask. It seems that you have been using Elementor for building websites while teaching all page builders. So now once other products such as Greenshipwd, cwicly and bricks came to market. I know elementor will stay in the market for a long time, BUT is Elementor is a better choice to use than something like FSE Greenshiftwp? I mean does Elementor scarifice our site's performance because of builder? Or Greenshiftwp | Cwicly | Kubio | Bricks is better in terms of performance?

Ohhhhh this is magic!!! I have a car sales agency BUT I also have a car body shop to paint the cars, and another car repair garage and car wash and an electro-mechanical garage. I AM LITTERALLY STRUGGLING every day to improve the results of my webpage and your contents helps A LOT!!!! I did the loop thing for each cathegory but now I see items are missing on the front display which gets me into custom grids. I just actualized my Elementor to the 3.12 version and I am learning about Custom Grids, Loop Grids and Containers and it all makes a HUGE difference for the speed of the webpage. I do no coding and each element you describe here makes a world of a difference for me. It's a lot of work and no one in my environment cares so that's why I am venting here now. Hi there! Love your content! Thanks for all your hard work! I watched your beginner videos about ACF and this video as well and I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the use of taxonomies. How are taxonomies different than regular fields. You filter/search on both right? Why would I use a taxonomy rather than a field for my custom data. There's something I'm missing...

Taxonomies are best used to group information (usually post types) into logical groupings. For example, a CPT for cars, meta field group to add custom data to your post type and then taxonomies to group by manufacturer, vehicle type, etc. I hope that helps.

Hi Great Video. Could you possibly do an Event and Ticketing site? This would include WooCommerce for the ticket sales but what I'm stuck on is whether the event would be a product or just a Custom post type with a product option on it. I also want to know how to add a relationship when adding an event for something like a venue. If the venue is not in the database when you are adding an event it gives you the option to add there and then. I suppose it's a light clone of the event calendar?
