Thanks. Can we ask a question please? We just received our first handpan. We did do some research & speak to a couple of people & decided on a China made D kurd 9 note. It's exceptionally hard to play & get any sound out of & what we do is very quiet... is this us because we are a beginner or a really bad made handpand? We are feeling a bit of both but mostly latter & to send back & get a different one - do you agree?? What's your suggestion for a beginner handpan kit (stand, bag etc.) That's around £200 & that's kinda pushing it. This one was £160. We're on disability benefits so budget is low. Thanks for any help or advice love your vids & energy ❤ Cornish friend 💚

Thanks Aida! I'll be sure to pin a key for the notation in Patreon. For now though: O is the ding, and T is the "tak" sound (or slap, snare, whatever you want to call it). If a letter is underlined that means it's muted, and different sizes relate to dynamics. In the case of this particular notation, I use roman numerals to indicate which chord to play. You can see me demonstrate each of those chords in this video. If you don't know your chords yet, I recommend learning them since it will be much more helpful than learning position numbers in the long run. So my ding is inwards and the muted sound does not sound any similar to yours... anyway to fix that or is it just what it is? Thx by the way is wanted really to learn that groove 😍

Inwards dings are an inherently different sound. You can try using your whole hand to mute, and keep exploring different variations. I don't have much experience with them though!

They relate to which chord is being played. In the key of Dminor, Dm is chord 1 (or i if in roman numerals) C chord 2 (II) and so on
