The point that resonates most with me was a line that seems like a throwaway line when he says "This is my opinion until I change it". Sometimes we get too rigid in our opinions. I watch this video at least once a month. It keeps me on track.

I've seen this speech quite a bunch of times, it's an amazing way to stay grounded and appreciate life as it is. Life will throw a lot of curve balls at you, so making life-long dreams and actively "seeking happiness" can easily show that reality is often disappointing. So just live, plan ahead some important stuff and act on it, just respect and appreciate people while doing so. About "being a teacher", I've always loved to teach anything to anyone, sharing my passion for technology, hardware and software for example, even though I don't plan to be an actual teacher. It's very rewarding, basically helping people to understand how to improve aspects of their lives a bit at a time. Anyways, thanks for another opportunity for us to watch this gem.

Wish I could remember what speech it was in... He has one where he talks about compassion, saying that it's not really compassion unless it's given equally to everyone. The line that really stood out though, was when he said when you see a mass shooting in the news, it's easy to have compassion for the victims of the shooter, but it's not enough unless you also have compassion for "the victim who was the shooter, " because happy, people with stable lives don't commit acts like that. It would be easy for people to listen to his comedy songs, and assume that he's a harsh, cynical person, but in reality he's one of the most compassionate people on the planet.

I’d love you also to check out two other fabulous speeches of Tim’s- both equally as wise and entertaining. One was to students at WAAPA - the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts - and the other to Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London.

Seeing his show Back was an incredible privilege I will never forget. It’s incredible that he believed that we’d forget this within a week. I heard this speech years ago and I keep coming back to it over and over. I think you’d really like his interview with Stan Grant, an incredible Indigenous Australian journalist. They discussed some of the faces of privilege, both the concept but also the song. Love listening to you, thank you 😊

Exercise is not something you have to go somewhere to do. You can go the long way, park further away, run up and down the steps, walk your dog, walk rather than take a lift/elevator. An australian lady walked around her clothesline in her backyard, speed walking, worked up to jogging it, then running, then around her house. After all that she took on her block. If you didn't walk far in ages, you may get woozy, get some electroytes. It's easier to collapse safely, if you didn't actually go anywhere. Get some weights, can be a can of something, a bag of rice, or 2 taped together, or a water bottle or 2, don't drink them until you are finished exercising. Different sizes are differing weights. Put some weight on your ankles and walk? Exercise while at your desk, do push ups in your chair, walk around your desk to pick up photocopies? Have a couple of mouthfuls of plain water every 20 mins or so, for your kidneys to work well. Exercise in front of the telly, try cycling in the air, lift your legs up, punch the air or walk circles around your couch. Watch a few physio doc guys on the tube? and learn what is good for folk or best left out. Have fun with it, dance? Get moving and it will be easier to go jogging, or to the gym later. Do star jumps, skip rope. Learn some warm ups to start and warm downs to end with. Get some help to do more complex moves safely. Do bigger workouts when there is someone around, to get help if you need it. Start once a week and build up. Get an elastic exercise band... find out how they work first. All the best.

Apologies for my funky audio, I still hadn't figured out the issue at the time of this recording but it was significantly better than what I had before. Uploads from this point on should be much better!

Even putting a poster or picture in frame on the wall behind you will lessen the echo.

@@blitzofchaosgaming6737 it actually wasn't the echo, I'm just an idiot and had the audio inputs layered on the recording software I use without realizing so my voice was doubled and sounded weird

Tim has an interesting way of thinking, and he's quite eloquent in his speech. Personally, I liked his 7th point the most. We should identify the things we love and gravitate ourselves towards those things. So many people tend to speak on what they don't like, spending time on things they don't like. I'd rather spend time doing what I love rather than spend time thinking about something I want nothing to do with.

I couldn't agree with you more, too much time spent focused on negativity as opposed to enjoying what we actually value.

As I recall, this was a graduation speech at University of Western Australia. Most people in West Oz do 12 years of formal education from 5 years old, and soon after (often after a gap year or decade) many of them attend a University for a 3 year degree, or 4 yearsif they do Honours. That is why he mentions the ability and persistence they have shown.

Ahh yess the passion of youth to stand on their soap boxes expounding their opinion with the confidence that it is immutable. life has a way of kicking a lot of that out of you as you acquire more experience and knowledge and find out that soapboxes are quite wobbly to stand upon and you are oft to fall off. I like Tim when asked for an opinion I will add the cavate that this is subject to change without prior notice or written warning. Jay still post the Good Book re-action as those who love your reactions appreciate your reaction not always the technical stuff. For a bit of of laugh "A SONG ABOUT BIRDS" by Van Vuuren Bros.
@JustJmax
@JustJmax Жыл бұрын
I do realize that those who enjoy my reactions are here for my reactions and not the technical stuff, but I found that it was just too distracting to post. It was also making the song audio warp significantly so it was just an overall horrible experience, one that shall never see the light of day. But I will continue the journey and add "A Song About Birds" to my list. Thanks for the recommendation!

@@blitzofchaosgaming6737 I deliberately chose not to mention that song due to it's political commentary that would only offend some Americans for no real purpose. However still funny as for those who want to look it up
